II Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
What is this world coming to? There is a way out; we can be saved out of these things we see in the perilous times we’re in. Evil has always been, but it is rampant now. That’s why it’s so important to get kids into church. When we look at the character of Joseph in the Bible we see a great example. He went through a lot. When temptation faced him heavily from Potiphar’s wife, “he got out of Dodge.” It cost him to run. It may cost us as it did Joseph, but God did not forget him. We need the will to do right regardless of the circumstances. It’s who we are; who we should be. We should desire to do God’s will. The character of Jesus Christ is to be our character. Christian character includes the pursuit of truth. We choose a worldly nature or the way of Christ. We are either for or against God. Now, we are not perfect; only Jesus was. But we can have godly character discerning the right way from the wrong way. Joseph made a choice and ran from the temptation before him.
Self-gratification and self-motivation are everywhere. We should be motivated by God, not a “me-first” or “what’s in it for me” attitude. Some are motivated by the dollar, the love of money. Without God we are all these things mentioned in the scripture. Noah’s day was the same. If we put our faith and trust in Jesus, we’ll go to heaven one day. Be thankful for salvation. The Lord has supplied all we need.
If we don’t warn people, who will? In today’s society most unsaved people are not going to walk into a church. We need to be the willing vessel ready to take the gospel to them. What is the world coming to? We know the end is coming. People need to be ready to meet God. We have the good news. Let’s tell it.
