Romans 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
All of us have difficulties in life. Things bring us down. The loss of a loved one for whatever reason leaves hurt inside. We have the assurance that Christ is with us. He’s intentionally involved in our life making intercession for us. That means he stands in the gap to help us, standing between us and God. Isaiah said he will strengthen us by saying “I am thy God.” We get beat down. When we feel we can’t go on, he gives us the strength to do it. Fear can be a ministry buster; God says “fear not.”
In verse 28 we see God is in control. He’s a sovereign God. Even in our challenges, he is in control. We’re not alone. Pray about all situations. Have questions? Doubt? Give them to God. He has a purpose and it exceeds everything. Surrender it to God. 100% surrender. Get distractions out of the way. God works things out for our good and his glory. Joseph’s life story is a good example. He remained faithful to God and God remained faithful to Joseph. The ending shows us God used his story to save Israel–his father and brothers–the entire nation from famine.
“All things” shows the depth of God’s promises and his love. “All things” encompass every aspect of life. Good to us means comfort or success. God’s good is not always instant. Pray and let God work it out his way and in his time. His good builds our character, helping us grow and be more Christlike. It’s for eternal purposes to mold us.
There’s a condition: to them that love God. He wants a deep spiritual relationship with us that involves obedience and trust. Our surrender will be to his will. We let go and trust his guidance. The Bible says if we love God we will keep his commandments.
Stay in the faith. Trust him in all things knowing that nothing can separate us from his love. Our love falters. The love of God never changes. His love has no conditions. The love of God is amazing. We can trust him to work all things out for our good.
