Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
What comes to mind when you say “the Lord is my helper”? I think of Psalms 23. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Not only is he our Shepherd; he is our helper. We need him everyday. We do not have to go through this world on our own. Can we take credit for any of the victories in life? No! There is no such thing as a self-made man or woman. We all need help.
Jesus is so many things. I’m glad my helper is one of them. He’s as much a helper as a Savior. There’s not a moment we don’t need his help. Our very heart keeps beating and our lungs keep breathing because he helps us. He’s a present help in time of need. Trust him and he’ll supply those needs– according to his riches in glory. He always knows what to do.
This truth can change your life. Tomorrows have turned into today and we see that he’s helped us all the way. We can boldly say it because he said he’d never leave or forsake us. Because he’s our helper, we need not be afraid. We don’t have to fear. We don’t have to be overwhelmed. There is no uncertainty with God. We may not realize all our needs but we know we need him! Evaluate yourself. Do you think you’re doing pretty well and don’t need the Lord all that much? Are you a 50/50 person with God or a 90/10. We can’t help the Lord. We can’t help ourselves all that much. We need Jesus. Let’s empty ourselves and let HIM be our total helper. Psalms 46:1 says he’s a very present help in time of need. It’s not a saying or just a belief. He’s an actual help. He’s real. There’s only so much we can do to help each other. Jesus goes all the way. He has the key to unlock the doors. He’s here, a present help. A very present help. He’s more abundant and real than we can imagine.
Remember. We can boldly say God is our helper. Throughout life, even though we’re undeserving, he has been, is, and will be our helper. I guarantee it. If you don’t know him, come to him today. Let him help you.
