The Nation of God

I’d rather live here than any other nation. Visiting Israel was nice but I’d rather live here.  There is no other place on earth quite like the United States.

Deuteronomy 4:7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for? 8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? 9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons.

This is so carefully put together to convey something to Israel then and to us now.  Israel is called the church of God. As Christians we have citizenship in God’s kingdom. There are not two kingdoms, the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God.  The Kingdom of Heaven is the place where the Kingdom of God is. Jesus said his kingdom was not of this world. So here we are in this world. Sometimes we feel like strangers, but remember heaven is a lot closer than we think.  And it’s because the Holy Spirit is within us.

Look back at verse 7 again. What nations is there go great, who hath God so nigh unto them?  God is nearer than we imagine. The Kingdom of God is the person of the Kingdom. You no longer belong to the kingdom of Satan now that you’re saved. The original sin was committed by Lucifer and one third of the angels in heaven followed him. He thought he’d get a throne and be equal with God. So many today think through Darwinism, atheism, and humanism that they are creators. NO!  We are creations. God made us a living soul. I’m glad someone witnessed to me. Many did. They were bringing God near to me. His Spirit convicted my heart. It disturbed me because I wasn’t right with God. I didn’t find God; he found me. What a relief! Words fail to describe the work of salvation inside a heart but HE SAVED ME! Do you know you’re saved?

What nation could be so great as to have statutes such as those in this Bible. We have it available to us every day. Politicians may add to or try to change the constitution of the U.S. They may try to reimagine the U.S. the way they want it to be. This is to confuse people.  America can do what it wants, but God’s kingdom does not change. It’s built on the Rock, a good foundation. What does a foundation do? It holds things together. It stands. We are not on shaky ground. The others who are apart from God are the ones on shaky, falling apart ground. Our Rock, our foundation, is Jesus Christ.

Has God ever turned a deaf ear to one of his children?  Has he ever turned his back on one? No! But we have him.  We can drift, but we have a faithful God. We’re never alone. He’s our God in all things. I’ve asked God for things I didn’t get, but he gave me something better. He gives us exactly what we need because he knows better than we do what we need.  Here’s what many of us do. We pray, “Lord, I need your help and I’ll tell you how to do it.” Who are we to tell God how? We need to say “Lord, help me. I leave it up to you how. I just need your help.”

We’re the nation of God.  Believe it! Call on his name. He’ll answer giving you what you need in his perfect way, in his perfect time, and by his perfect means. It’s the gift of God. We don’t need to help him out. We are to simply rely on him. Stop telling him how.  This is the great nation of God. He knows best. Let’s call on him for help today.
