Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
It goes without saying that we live in a world that is breaking down, coming apart. It’s not disintegrating slowly; it’s swiftly falling apart. It reminds me of September 11, 2011. We all sat at our televisions and in surprise watched the wickedness of terrorists as the towers crumbled to the ground. The first of the mighty structures, one of the tallest in the U.S., went down in a manner of minutes. The next one went down and NY was engulfed in smoke and debris and 3,000 people’s lives ended. There were heaps of wreckage of what was once huge towers. This is the world today. Man is self-destructing–doing it to himself–because of sin and wickedness. No person is an island so when a person falls others are affected. For a society to fall, it begins with individuals. Many in Hollywood will give account for what they’ve made and participated in. Singers and songwriters sing about adultery and say there is no God, and on and on the list goes. All who are part of this wickedness will answer to God. If they don’t get saved they will go to hell. When a government endorses wickedness and sin, the people who put it in will answer to God, even those who vote for it. As voters we sometimes don’t know what to do. I’m just praying the Lord will come back before November 2020.
There seems to be no solution. It won’t be found as long as God is left out. Don’t remake or re-image God to make your own god. Don’t remake his identity to fit you. God is who he is and anything else will take you to hell. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” No one will get to the Father other than through Jesus Christ! No one has a chance of heaven without Jesus. The only hope is the God who is. Follow the God of the Bible, the only God forever. We must yield to him; he won’t yield to us. If we want anything we must turn to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. He created the universe and all things that exist. God made everything, but man made sin. God makes no messes, but we do. We need him.
He made the world. He made you. You are the offspring of your dad and mom but without God allowing you to be made and born it would not have happened. You have your own DNA (made by God) and from that, God made you all the way. He knows the hairs or lack of them on your head. We are not a process of evolution. Like it or not, believe it or not: God created you. God created heaven. God created hell because of the fall of the angels. People who die lost will go there uninvited and unwelcome, as an intruder. Because a lost person cannot go to heaven in his or her sin, he or she will go to hell with the devil and a third part of the angels. I’m thankful Jesus gave his precious blood. God provided a Savior for all. As sure as we have individual DNA, we have an individual Savior. He died for me and for you. God gave his eternal son and in obedience Jesus is our living Savior who died once and for all and rose again. We can always depend on him. After you finish the dishes you don’t stay at the sink. Jesus is at the sink to wash our lives. God knows all our dirt, whatever it is, and he’ll wash us clean.
By him we are made and consist. To consist means held together. The universe holds together. We can’t understand all about how that works. Gravity. Science. If you gravitate towards someone, you get near them. The source of gravity is God and by his drawing and consisting power we are held together. The planets stay in line because of the pull of the sun. God made it that way. Without the core rotation of the earth it would fly apart. God has the whole world in his hands! He has us, the whole of us, in his hand and no man can pluck us out. Do you feel like you’re going to explode or implode? Trust God to keep you. If your fuse gets lit, it doesn’t mean the dynamite will go off. Burdens are hard to bear alone but we have God. He helps us and we don’t even realize it. The devil would have us in pieces but remember we have an armor to wear. We may be nicked or wounded but we’ll not come apart at the seams if we trust God. The devil would have us upside down and inside out. Don’t let him do it. Greater is HE that is in you that he that is in the world. All things–including you–consist by HIM. You’re a winner all the way with Jesus. Thanks be to God for the victory through Jesus Christ.
One day Jesus’ disciples were all around him but he told them to make way for the children to come. They came and sat on his knee. He could have held a baby in his arms. He said that except we humble ourselves as these children we will not make it to heaven. On his knee and in his hand is where we belong. It’s time to get back there if we’ve drifted away. There are mighty big hands waiting to hold you. Come to Jesus.
