Are You Ready To See His Face?

Jesus is coming soon.  We’ve said that for a long time.  I believe his coming is now eminent.  The wicked and evil in the world increase continually.  The world has become a dangerous place.  The buzz word is security. About 13,000 satellites orbit the earth; most are for surveillance.  Despite this, evil continues.  Terrorism still exists.  The devil continues to deceive many.

While it is a scary time to live, for the Christian there is still blessing.  We have a relationship with Jesus that brings rest and peace.  We lean on each other for support.  We cannot trust what we see in the news.  Much of it is designed and orchestrated to deceive.  There are few to trust here but we can still trust God.  We know what he says is truth.  Of all the source of information available to us, all we have to do is open the Bible to get truth.  It’s the Word of God and it won’t fail you!  The God of the Bible and the Savior we’re told about in it will not fail!

Revelation 6: 12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Revelation 22:And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

One of our desires as Christians is to see the face of the Lord.  As a young Christian I’d pray for the Lord to show himself to me.  I really wanted to see his face.  In my spiritual childishness I’d wonder why it didn’t happen.  Now that I’ve grown in the faith I realize that we walk by faith not by sight.  We can see him by faith and hear his voice in the same way.  We have a squirrel that comes on our carport.  I watch him eat and I can see God.  I hear the birds and I can hear God.  He is closer than we imagine.  The time is coming when we’ll see him.

Chapter 1 of Revelation tells us Jesus is coming and every eye will see him.  How will that affect us?  It’s better to hear the voice of God now, with your heart and soul.  When we hear the gospel we know we have a Savior that gave us a way to escape hell.  God provided a way out of sin through the sacrifice of his son.  He bore our sins on the cross.  Through his suffering and the substitution of himself for us, we can call on him in prayer and be saved.  Jesus chose to do this for us.  His choice to do that leaves us with a choice to choose him as Savior.  We do that or think we can handle our sins on our own.  Jesus paid the price.  I’ve never seen him physically but one day I will.  Genesis to Revelation is the Word of God not men.  God’s hand was on the hands of men to write what he wanted us to know.  When we open the Bible it speaks to us.  In a time when we can’t believe anything else we can believe the Bible.  We can stake our future on the words contained in it.

If you could do life over would you do it differently?  Every step of life has been guided. For 17 years God watched over me, guiding me to the point of believing in him.  I turned him down many times.  The night I got saved I left the pew intending to leave the church; instead I headed to the altar to pray.  Because of that, when I leave this world I’ll see his face.  He’s close now and if you believe and are saved you can do the same.

Revelation 6 is a time that is soon coming.  The rapture will have happened.  Everyone who has trusted Jesus as Savior will come forth.  Those dead since Adam to now who have trusted God will come out of the grave.  We must trust Jesus Christ to save us by believing in his death on the cross for our sins, his burial and his resurrection.  Now we have an actual living Savior.  Those who’ve done that and died in the Lord will rise up when Jesus comes again.  Those alive when he returns will be translated and together everyone will see the face of the Savior.  We will reign with him forever.  I don’t need to see his face to believe. If you haven’t accepted Jesus all you need to do is believe in what he’s done and ask him to forgive your sins and come live in your heart.

What happens to those who refuse Jesus?  The wrath of God comes on this earth.  The physical Bibles will be here but without the Holy Spirit there will be no saving from the wrath of God.  You’ll be left behind and caught up in the terrible judgment of God.  Peter tells us that the elements of the earth will melt with fervent heat.  People will pray for the mountains and rocks to fall on them.  If you’re not ready you will bow one day.  The Bible tells us that every knee will bow.  If you’re not saved, you’ll see his face in judgment.  I want to see his face in glory.

Today is the day of salvation.  If you’re not ready to see his face, pray and ask him into your heart.  Romans 10 tells us that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  If you’re not ready to see his face you can be.  Take hold of his hand in faith.  Then we can all leave here saying we’re ready to see his face.
