An Issue of Blood

Everything that took place in the earthly life of Jesus tells us a great deal about him.  He is the answer to everything in life.  He never turned anyone down.  People came to Jesus and got an answer the very way they needed.  Jesus is not here physically but he helps people all over the world by responding to those who reach out to him.

Mark 5: 24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

Pain thresholds are different, but anyone of us who is bleeding wants that bleeding to stop.  We know if it doesn’t that we’ll be in big trouble.  Jesus was on his way to Jairus’ house because his daughter was dying.  The girl was 12 years old; this woman had been sick for 12 years.  If it has been 12 years and your life is bleeding you away, God is able to take care of it.  Jesus was going to the little girl while the woman was trying to get to him.  It takes both—Jesus and you or Jesus and me.

This woman had some kind of blood issue; her blood was flowing.  I’m sure she had to eat to keep her blood up.  She was losing ground.  The best doctors couldn’t help.  How is your life with the Lord?  Are you losing ground?  Are there issues in your relationship with him?  It’s time to do something about it. When we sin we must confess them or those sins will bleed out our power with God.  Our faith will get weak.

This woman was losing strength.  I’m sure she was pale.  It kept her from enjoying life.  Blood is life and hers was not right.  If you have not accepted Jesus your life is bleeding away.  It’s time to let Jesus take care of your soul.  Are you paling in your life?   Are you discontented and finding fault?  Maybe it isn’t others.  You may be bleeding out.  It’s in our nature, our Adam nature.  It wants to bust our integrity and our relationship with God.  The devil is behind it.  The world is geared for it.  They all want to bleed us dry.

This woman had spent all and there was no earthly cure.  There is no earthly cure for the soul.  Life can be worth living if we’re saved and we keep all the leaks healed over.  There can be a path through the deepest Red Sea in our lives.  You don’t have to bleed to death.

Jesus was going in the opposite direction of this woman.  She could have given up, but she got through the crowd.  She thought if I can’t get to him then I’ll just touch his clothes.  Jesus was in a throng of people, yet he said somebody touched me.  I believe God helped the woman get to his Son.  If you start toward the Lord 10,000 demons can’t keep you away.  God will make a way.  When she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment two things happened.  Virtue went out of Jesus.  The woman felt the bleeding stop.

Jesus is looking for somebody to touch him.  Who will reach out and touch him?  He won’t call you a nobody.  He’ll know somebody touched him.  He told the woman daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.  We can’t help but bleed out because of sin.  It causes the loss of heart and soul.

Here was one who had never sinned.  He was able to stop this woman’s bleeding by giving his virtue.  He would soon shed his blood for this woman.  He who didn’t have to bleed willingly bled and was crucified for our sins on Mount Calvary.  He bled to death to have the power to stop our bleeding.  The problem is blood.  The remedy is blood.  If we call on Jesus to touch him, he touches us back.

Is there an issue with blood going on with you?  Our Savior has the virtue to stop it.  He’s able to save, restore, and renew.
