What Are We Putting Our Trust In?

The message was brought by Rev. Tim Powers on Feb 8, 2026.

Psalms 146 Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. 2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. 3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. 5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God: 6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: 7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners: 8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous: 9 The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. 10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.

The founder and CEO of a large hedge fund is highly sought for financial advice.  At a recent forum in Switzerland where the prestigious, elite, and wealthy met to learn how to make more money and have more power, this man was asked about the financial economy of the world. He said the whole world is just hanging on. When asked how AI could help, he said most investors are investing in AI. He said the world needs a savior. The hope is AI will be that savior.

Read the book of Revelation.  We can see that people are looking for someone to make sense of it all.  Look behind the scenes; it is not fun and games.  AI can be good.  I’m not knocking technology. I use it. But our faith and trust cannot be in AI. In light of all I just said, my question is:  what are you putting your faith and trust in?

Two years ago many preachers and Christians treated Donald Trump as a savior.  Anything or anyone we put trust in becomes a “golden calf”. This is fickle.  Learning is good, but like everything else AI can be used in the wrong way. We’re being conditioned to accept it.  Our God is a jealous God. He won’t put up with us elevating AI to savior status. Look up at verse 3 above. Don’t trust all leaders. Yes, the government is ordained by God, but we can’t put our trust in man or governments. An economic shift will come.  We see it happening.  It’s like waiting for something to fall and the domino effect to begin. We don’t know when Jesus is coming back, but we see the devil setting things up. No doubt AI will have an impact in the end times.  However, AI will not be a savior.  Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He’s the only ONE who can save. Judgment will come if we don’t turn back to God. His mercy still wants people to be saved.  Trust HIM, not anything made by man, not even AI.
