I Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is a good time of year: peace on earth, good will to men. However, circumstances can make it a bad time for some. Grieving the death of a loved one is an example. We all miss our loved ones who’ve gone on. BUT I know we have the victory. God gave it to us. We have it! It is ours.
Look at Revelation 21:5-6: And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. When do we get victory? We know that for those who refused Jesus as Savior death means hell forever. For the believer, death means heaven forever. When does it come? When it’s all said and done? The ultimate completion is to come. Go back to Revelation 1:18: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Resurrection Sunday–is that when victory came? We know our salvation is based on the virgin birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Is this when victory came? We have victory inside if we’re saved, but that’s not when it came.
Back in Genesis 3:15 we find God telling the serpent (Satan) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Is this when victory came? It wasn’t. Way back–in eternity past–God was. Angels were created. The earth was created. God wanted a family–someone in his own image–so he created Adam. God desired to be close to us, for us to rely on him for everything. The devil wants nothing but to drag us down, but we have victory! When did we get it then?
Look at I Peter 1:19-20: But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, When? Before the foundation of the world. Before Genesis 1:1. God had it set up all along. He made the plans because he knew Adam would sin. Jesus said we’d have troubles and trials. Being a Christian can be hard. There is still sorrow and pain in this life. BUT Jesus came to give joy, not just happiness. Joy makes life bearable. In ages past, WE HAD THE VICTORY!
Let’s go to Revelation 13:8: And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Jesus is the victory. In God’s mind, when the plan was made–from the foundation of the world–we had victory. Jesus loved us enough to die on the cross for our sins. He died in our place. The plan was made in ages past giving us the victory. We just need to claim it as ours!
