Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
The old paths still work. Not because the paths are old, but because they are good. They still work. The verse says STAND. Show people how we are to live. Teach people how to live. Tell them the truth of God. We’re at a crossroads. What are we going to preach? To teach? The blood of Jesus Christ. It’s not okay to live in sin. Those who follow religions of culture are not saved. We cannot follow the path of compromise, idolatry, and culture. We must follow the path of Christ, the old path.
SEE. Look around. There is wickedness everywhere. Yet, we see a move of God heading toward revival. The new paths of today lead people into all sorts of wicked, destructive things. The old path leads to peace, joy, and love. Modern paths say sin is okay. They say it’s about being the best you can be. We can only do this through Jesus Christ. Examine these things of the world through the lens of the Bible; you’ll see we must look toward Jesus.
ASK for the old paths. We need that desire. We need to do what is right, not wrong. ASK. We don’t want empty rituals of religion. Too many in our churches today are on their way to hell. New ideas are great. I’m thankful for what we have. But remember prayer is an old way that has been around a long time. There is no need for AI to talk to God. We can do it ourselves. ASK God to show us the scripture. Too often we are asking “God, give me….” ASK for the scripture to be real to you. ASK for the path of holiness. It comes through the path of repentance. ASK for faithful biblical worship. ASK or obedience helping you do what He wants us to do.
The old paths are old because God laid them down before the foundation of the world. The invitation is for us to walk in them: where is the good way. I’m all for embracing new things that enhance, but we can’t stray from the old path. Make sure new paths lead to God. There is a blessing in walking the old path. Why? ye shall find rest for your souls.
You know what still works? Prayer. Holiness. Repentance. The Gospel. Love. The blood of Jesus. The old paths still work.
