Here Comes the Rain

Here is a synopsis of the message brought by Rev. Jonathan Osborne on March 9, 2025.

I Kings 18:41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. 42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, 43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. 44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not. 45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. 46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

It was a dry time in the land. It’s dry spiritually nowadays. We’re losing spiritual vibrancy in churches. Many of those with high numbers have compromised. The Bible tells us it will get drier and drier as time goes on. There’s an average of 200 FWB churches without pastors. It numbers 75-100 churches that shut their doors every week.  In this dry land, God is the answer. Are you thirsty for God?  Paul told Timothy that perilous times would come.  It’s a drought, but the rain is coming.

In Elijah’s day the rain came as a little cloud after 3 ½ years.  Hope was on the horizon. God uses the small things. The foolish confound the wise. Base things have been chosen. The book of Zachariah asks who has despised the day of small things? There is no need to cry over what was. I hear the abundance of rain.  There are little revivals here and there. People are getting saved here and there. This church is special because God is here. If we cry out to God, he’ll take this little church and make something out of each of us.

Back in church history is what I call the early rain. There was a lot of persecution. The latter rain is here. We’re seeing persecution in many places.  The final “reign” is coming soon, the reign of Jesus Christ.  Signs are here. Are you ready?
