John 6:51: I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Selling something is finding a need and filling it. Sales people tend to pressure people into buying their product. Everybody has a spiritual need that can only be filled by the Lord. There are many benefits to being saved. I’d like to share some.
Eternal Life: We don’t have to wait for it. We get eternal life when we get saved and will live forever in heaven. Jesus called himself the “bread of life”. Cultures have always known there is life after death. The Indians call it the happy hunting round. The new agers call it reincarnation. As Christians, we look forward to heaven as spoken of in the Bible. It’s vital to note that you cannot have eternal life outside or apart from Jesus Christ. You must receive him as your personal Savior by repenting of sins.
Spiritual Knowledge: John 7:17, II Peter 3:8 and Hebrews 5:12 all tell us we ought to be gaining in our spiritual knowledge growing stronger and stronger. How do we do it? Personal Bible study, attending Sunday school and preaching services, including midweek Bible studies. The tragedy is to be saved for years and be ignorant in the teachings of the Bible. This knowledge is our strength in life and a benefit of salvation.
Gifts: First Corinthians 12:7 tells us that spiritual gifts are given. The fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians relates to our character–we should be bearing these. Spiritual gifts are not rewards; they’re given by God’s grace. They are not our natural talents; we receive these at birth. We should use them to glorify God. Your spiritual gift may be teaching. Whatever the gift, fulfill it to benefit the body of Christ. Everyone working together sharing their gifts brings glory to God.
Wisdom: Ask God for wisdom. Make wise decisions in life. I could read the Bible before I got saved, but it wasn’t until I got saved that I could read it as more than just a book.
Divine Fellowship: Revelation 3:20 is often used in asking people to open their hearts door and let Jesus in to be saved. There is nothing wrong with that. However, he is speaking to the seven churches in Revelation telling that church to open the door and let him back in so he can again fellowship with them. Unfortunately the Lord has been pushed out of many churches. I’m glad he’s welcome here! God’s desire is to fellowship with us. We see that all the way back to the Garden of Eden. He came each day to fellowship with Adam and Eve. Sin interfered and broke that fellowship. Sin still breaks it. God wants our fellowship. We can have it. It’s a benefit of being saved.
There are many benefits of salvation. Get saved to find them and enjoy them. If you’re saved but sin has broken the fellowship with the Lord, repent and ask him to restore you to fellowship with him.
