The Battle for America

The message was brought by Rev. Eddie Foster on Sunday, July 2, 2023.

Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

I enjoy history.  By it we know our forefathers came here in search of religious freedom. If they could see what’s going on now “they’d roll over in their graves.”  Read the Mayflower Compact and see the references to God. We know it was about the freedom to worship. They didn’t want the government telling them how. It was intended for God to be the center of everything. The Bible tells us that the nation who forgets God will be turned into hell. God needs to be welcomed back to America.  The Declaration of Independence is the basis of government. It states “we hold these truths to be self-evident”. They acknowledged we were created–didn’t evolve–and were created by a Creator–God.  This type of teaching is forbidden in classrooms today.

God has blessed America beyond many other nations. There was a day when most believed the Bible to be the Word of God. They condemned wrong. It’s no longer the case. I don’t believe we can still say this is a Christian nation. There used to be political division; now it’s a cultural war. There is no middle ground. We are either for or against:  abortion (it’s condemned in the Bible); homesexual lifestyles: We’re taught that God made a man and a woman and these two became one in marriage. There is no room for compromise. Is there hope for people who have participated in these things?  Yes.  Repent and forsake it.

Godly America was a time when dad and mom went to church and took the kids. You worked to get what you had. People lived honestly and chastity was a part of life.  Another America is being worked in with a culture to change our value system. Most don’t realize what’s going on. Have you ever heard of Margaret Sanger? In 1869 she started a movement trying to bring change that went against godly teachings. She started what is now known as Planned Parenthood. We cannot be neutral and continue to sit idly by, doing nothing. When David saw Israel stand by when mocked by Goliath he said “is there not a cause?”  Is there?  There is!  We’ve allowed human beings to die before they had a chance to live. We need to pray that leaders will rise up who trust God and put him first.

Some are passive; they are aware but inactive. Some support change but still don’t do anything. We know that most work in any cause is done by a few who are committed to it.  Who will win the battle for America?  The ones who want it the most.  Is there still hope? Yes.  While at its worst time, God can still bring revival. The time is now and it must begin with you and me.
