The Law of Sowing and Reaping

The harvest is ripe, ready, white…NOW.  If you’re being hindered about sharing the Lord with others, set that thought aside.  We don’t have time.  If we want people to go up with us in the rapture we must speak out now.  This should be our passion.  We should have a burning desire that those who don’t have what we have get it.  Don’t be self-centered.  Are you too busy and forget that others need the Lord?  Tell others.  Be a witness.  This will close the loop holes the devil uses to get to us.

You can’t write off the population of the world.  Even the most wicked can be saved and they would if they turned to Jesus.  Remember that Jesus told the Pharisees that the harlots would get to heaven before them.  What a slam in the faces of the religious elite of that day.

We need to do the job God has commissioned us to do.  In the book of Isaiah God said he was the Lord and we his witnesses.  In this scripture the disciples had gone into town to buy food and when they got back they wondered by the way Jesus was acting if someone had already brought him food.  Jesus told them his meat was to do the will of God.  This should be ours too for it is the Lord’s work and we are part of the harvest.  Thank God somebody witnessed to us and we’re a byproduct of it.

God gives us opportunities and we turn from them or fail to recognize them when we see them.  We do need to be ready to leave this world but also ready to witness.  Are you taking care of the responsibility God has given you?  Do you share what God has done with those who need to be saved.  I’ll give account for my life and my work.  You will too.  Are you aware?  Do you incorporate witness into your life?  We don’t think about breathing.  We just do it.  The most contented you’ll ever be is when you do what God desires.  A lot of struggles we bring on ourselves.  Just go be a witness.  You can’t be a Christian and not be a witness.  If we read our Bibles and pray but leave out witnessing we’re not finished.  We come to church to worship.  This is not like a school lunch line where we pick and choose.  Give God honor and worship and he’ll bless.  It’s all in response to worship and that worship must be in spirit and truth.

We all need to know the Bible.  You need to know it as much as I do.  If I say something wrong you should be able to point it out.  Do you know the gospel enough to tell someone how to be saved?  I had my defenses up before I got saved and only God could break through it.  People kept praying for me.  They kept witnessing.  It got through.  So often the devil wants us to be silent but we can’t.  We need to tell it.  Someone needs your testimony.  If you expect to reap, you’ve got to sow.  If you expect to have vegetables in your garden you’ll get the soil ready and plant the seeds.  That’s the only way the harvest will come.

John 4: 33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. 35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

This is where we are.  You are enjoying last year’s harvest.  You’ve been eating what you canned or frozen.  Farmers used to hold some back to have seed to plant the next season.  They had to plant to reap.  Does your heart need working?  Has the winter made you hard?  What good is it if you have no seed?  The Lord of the harvest gave it, so go witness.  One day we got saved.  Remember how good the tomatoes were.  They had seeds in them.  Corn on the cob—save some and plant it at sowing time.  Fix the ground.  Sow the seed.  Work it right.  You don’t bury it six feet in the ground.  Each seed is planted as it’s supposed to be and it grows. There is only one path to salvation and Jesus is it—the way, the truth and the life.  Repentance and admission of sin with faith in the finished work of Calvary is the only way to be saved.  All those you meet or who are unsaved in your family need the same thing you needed.  To have a harvest you must sow.  Don’t give up.  Be a witness.  The only testimony you have is Jesus Christ.  Somebody sowed a harvest and you received it.  Pass Jesus down to someone else through your testimony.  That’s sowing.

Have you lost your purpose?  Do you feel you’re going in circles?  This church house can’t go down the road and witness.  It’s a building.  What part of this church is given the joy to carry the harvest of salvation?  I’m looking at them.  You’re looking at it.  It’s us!  The fields are ready.  You can’t live in the past and anything you did then.  This is now.  You can’t hide your witness.  Somebody is waiting for you to talk to them about Jesus.  They may be an inch away from being saved.  Show them one more time.  Our job is not to save.  Jesus does that.  Our work is done by taking the seed we received from reaping and sowing it.

In the book of Haggai, God asked if the seed was yet in the barn.  Get the barn door open.  You don’t have to wait a month or a week on the harvest.  Open it now and ask the Lord to help you witness and sow the seed.  It is wonderful at harvest time to see the tomatoes come out but that never happens if the seed isn’t sown.

Jesus is calling us to the harvest.  Let’s all do our part to be the witness he wants.  That is our purpose.
