Proverbs 1: 22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. 24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
We’re a winner either way. The outcome for the child is God is being a winner. The end of the Book says all that are born again receive this outcome. There is one who is more powerful than the devil, our adversary, the prince of darkness. I’m thankful to have found truth. We saw the devil for what he is. The first thing a person has to do to be saved is see their sin and admit he is a sinner. Old things are passed away; all things become new. Being in sin was defeat but coming to Jesus we were washed and made clean.
I have never had a problem with God or the Bible, or coming to church. I do have a problem with the devil, sin and the flesh. Thank God we were delivered from the power of Satan. Our tendency was to sin. We don’t have to be part of this world even though we live in it. The devil still aggravates us. He uses wicked people. He whispers to us. The world pushes deception upon us to bring us down. He wants us to quit and uses any means to make that happen. We have victory. Be steadfast and faithful to God. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Mind and do the right thing. Keep your direction centered on Jesus Christ.
We read the paper and the devil speaks to us. There is so much to belittle us. Most every religion is honored and respects except Christianity. It used to be that Billy Graham crusades were advertised for weeks and shown in prime time on television. People were excited. If we tried to do something like that now it would get a hostile reaction. We’re living in a time of madness. Any serious Bible-believing Christian is considered crazy. This world won’t have the last laugh. God will. The works of the devil will be destroyed. I’m glad God gave me enough discernment to be saved. The devil won’t give up on you so don’t give up on God.
We see in the Bible that God has been mocked many times. Noah built a gigantic boat in the desert. His family worked on it for 120 years while Noah preached of judgment to come. There was room in the ark. If a million people had been saved God would have made room. There is no reason why anyone today can’t be saved. When the door of the ark was shut and the earth started spewing out water there was nowhere else to run. Who had the last laugh?
Moses and Aaron went to the Pharaoh of Egypt with the message “let my people go.” He laughed. The Hebrews were his builders and laborers; he was not about to let them go. They were his property. We don’t belong to the devil anymore! Pharaoh laughed but when he lost his firstborn son God had the last laugh.
Goliath laughed at David and asked where all the great soldiers of Israel were. Why was a little, scrawny boy coming to fight? David had no armor. He had only a slingshot. Goliath laughed but David told him the God he trusted would deliver him. The devil will have his little demons armed to the hilt. We’ll face our Goliaths tomorrow with just the Lord. That’s right with just the Lord. You’ll have victory. Guess who will have the last laugh. David ran toward Goliath. He probably thought there was something wrong with David. Yet the stone struck Goliath right in the forehead and he fell to the ground. David got on top of him, took Goliath’s own sword and cut off his head. Who had the last laugh? David praised the Lord. We need to face our Goliath and remember to meet the enemy head on in the fear of the Lord.
Verse 33 says But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. I want this in my heart every day. The devil will rattle his chains and make his threats. Answer him with the Word of God and he will have the last laugh.
