Unsatisfied

Proverbs 30: 15 The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: 16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.

Life itself keeps teaching.  We learn.  The best lessons come from the school of hard knocks.  Years ago I was given the opportunity to go to the Bible College in Nashville but I felt led to take a small church instead.  Turns out it had many problems and I learned a lot in the school of hard knocks.  The Bible tells us there will never be a utopia in this life; we won’t find perfection now.  We should all thank God for good days.  The dark times will come.  Even Job asked about it and God had a talk with him.  There is a purpose to it all.

Apart from Jesus Christ there is no satisfaction.  About all of us have something physical going on in our lives.  The core and source of satisfaction is found in God.  Paul said in Philippians 4 I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.  Even in all he went through with his legacy falling apart David said he knew his satisfaction was in God.  I don’t care how satisfied you think you are, without a Savior you’re missing something—someone.  The only hope for peace is the One who took our sorrows and sin.  Jesus took it to the point of saying he had done enough.  All things were against us.  Jesus went to Calvary for us.  He took our all there—our wickedness, failures, sins, and sorrows.  He did all this for you and for me.  He is the Son of God born of a virgin.  He could have lived keeping to himself, helping no one, but the Bible tells us he was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.  He set aside his own ability to be satisfied in and with himself and took everything that robs us of satisfaction.  You and I will never be satisfied in this life unless the blood of Jesus Christ is applied to our life, to our sins.

Proverbs 30:16 tells us the grave is never satisfied.  We don’t see a cemetery that gets smaller.  They all get bigger.  Death is not satisfied.  It’s an appointment we all have and when the time comes, that’s it.  We’ll keep it.  However, we can leave this life in peace if we know Jesus Christ.  Everything is trying to take your joy and satisfaction.  The Savior is perfection.  In his arms there is satisfaction.  When I try to do things on my own I mess up.  Death makes no deals.  The grave takes no bribes.  One is waiting for us all if the Lord doesn’t come.  Death will find us and we can find Jesus there.  David said though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death that Jesus is there.

Jesus told Nicodemus that he had to be born again. He didn’t understand and thought he had to enter his mother’s womb again.  Jesus told him he had to believe on him.  Nicodemus did.  He and Joseph of Arimathea were the ones who took care of Jesus’ body when he died.  Christianity cannot be set on a shelf with all the religions and “ism’s”.  Jesus is alive!  My salvation is of one born if a virgin.  His name is Jesus and God is his father.

Without water there would be no green in the trees.  There would be little color in the world.  Everything would dry up.  We’re in a time of spiritual drought like I’ve never seen.  The report from heaven is there is a Savior named Jesus and he has the remedy for whatever takes our satisfaction.  Don’t put faith in anything but Jesus.  He’s the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  There are many things going on in America that make me ashamed of our country, but I am not ashamed to be a Christian.  I am that before I’m an American.

Thank God we can find satisfaction.  The gates of hell swing one way—in—and people go through them every day.  There is not a “NO VACANCY” sign in hell.  In fact it continuously enlarges itself.  Jesus said he is the door and if we go through him we’ll enter the sheepfold of God and dwell with the Lord forever.  He satisfies death and the grave for everyone who believes.  He satisfies the barrenness of everything.  Jesus came and by his suffering on the cross and dying for us he opened up the Garden again.  Everyone who believes Christ is a new creature.  Jesus told the woman that he had living water and those who drink it never thirst again.  Let others choose to be dry.  I choose to take the living water.  Jesus died and satisfied hell.  In the last judgment hell will give up its people and they will be judged and cast into the lake of fire along with death and hell.

Isaiah spoke of Jesus’ death and said God shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied.  Stop trying to find it elsewhere.  Stop letting things take it away.  Only in Jesus can any of us be satisfied.  Let him be Lord and Savior of it all.
