There is a God. You’d think saying that is unnecessary, but it is. People have made gods. They don’t speak. My God does. From the time of 12 years old to the day Jesus died, he spoke to us. His last words to man were it is finished. His final words were a prayer to the Father in heaven: into thy hands I commend my spirit. He prayed and knew that someone was on the other end.
God is not a concept of the mind. He can’t be copyrighted or patented by man. If he had not spoken in the beginning, we’d not be in existence. He’s the true, living God and when we pray he speaks. When we open the Bible he speaks loud and clear. His very word is in our laps today. We are blessed to have a copy. It’s the book of God’s word. Jeremiah said to seek it out. When we read we hear the voice of God. O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord. (Jeremiah 22:29)
Hebrews 1:1God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Shame on us for asking “Lord, are you really there?” He is! The problem is us. When we settle down and open the Book, God speaks loud and clear. Jesus said he that hath ears, hear and he that has eyes, see. We need to adjust our hearing and our vision. Then we’ll see and hear God. He is greater than our human spectrum can see, but our soul has eyes. While we were in the womb God knew us. Without faith it is impossible to reach God. We must believe he exists and he is a rewarder of those who seek him. Who are we to doubt? We’ve never had reason. Sure the devil comes up with reasons, but they don’t really exist.
Think about the wonders of God. He made all things through the Son. There would be no universe except through the Holy Trinity of God. They took nothing and made everything. If the Lord let loose of everything it would come apart. If he took his hands off the very atoms of our being, everything would cease to be. We’re held by a power we can’t even conceive. Doubt yourself. Doubt the world. Don’t doubt God.
The Word speaks to us. The world tells us a lot of junk, but we need to believe God. Do you believe him? Do you trust what he says? What he does? Do you trust his will? Guess what. Even if we don’t believe, he still is. You can turn your faith switch off, but he still exists. He’ll not just vanish because people don’t believe. Take the Lord at his word. When we got saved we directed our faith from ourselves and the world to God. Things try our faith. People are weak. They are wishy washy. They are passive. Faith like that is easy for the devil to attack. We must listen to God. No matter what reports we hear from men, God is. He doesn’t have to prove himself. Believe him or believe a lie and be damned. Believe the God of the Bible, not one of your own imaginations. Forget what you think. Forget what others think. Seek God through his Word.
Jesus believed that because he is the Son of God that if he took the hell and punishment for us, it would work. Our salvation could happen. That’s what the Father said. Jesus did it. He could have transfigured himself again and destroyed this world for what they were doing to him. But he believed he could finish salvation for us. All he asks now is for us to believe and be saved. Don’t have a passive belief. Don’t have a scholarly belief. You need a real belief. Jesus asked the former blind man if he believed on the Son of God. He said who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? Jesus told him: thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. What did the man do? He said Lord, I believe. Then he worshipped him.
That’s what we have to do. Believe to the extent that we know the victory is ours. Just believe. If we would only believe, all things are possible because there is a God!
