Think about who and what we’d be if not for the blood. Think about our life without Jesus Christ as Savior. He offered the sacrifice of his own body and blood on Calvary. We’re saved and only by one reason: the grace of God through the giving of his son on the cross.
Hebrews 9: 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. 1 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Millions over the generations died and went to hell because they didn’t believe in Jesus Christ. Many die each day and go there. They don’t believe. They don’t trust in his blood. It was his blood for ours, his life for ours, and his body for ours JUST SO we could have a new life and one day a new body. These bodies break down but within it is a soul that lives forever. Underline it. He did this for us. But by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. We were sentenced to eternal death but with his own blood, body and sacrifice he took it to the Father. We who deserve eternal torment can be redeemed. Our sins are remised—taken off like an overcoat in winter. We all know blood spilled on a white shirt is hard to get out. No matter how sinful our lives, the blood of Jesus can cover it. A black heart can be covered with his red blood and made white as snow. Isaiah 1:18 says though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
We are not spotted with sin; we are covered with it. Jesus didn’t have even one spot; he died spotless. Through the offering of his spotless blood, our hell-deserving sins are washed away and completely remised from our soul. God then accepts us as his child. All I can say is what I said the night I got saved: ‘thank you Jesus for saving this old sinner!’ The old works of sin are purged and we are clean before God.
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
We have this High Priest—Jesus Christ—in the Holy Place. Without his blood there would be no access to the Father. There would be no one to plead our cause to God. There would be no safety from the destroyer. Remember Moses’ instructions to the children of Israel that last night in Egypt. There were to kill the spotless lamb and put the blood on the doorposts in light of the coming of the death angel in judgment. God said the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you. The death angel would pass over the home and they would be saved. Without it, there is no escape. I don’t have to worry about the destroyer as I trust Jesus Christ. Stay under the blood. Live under it and by it. In doing so, God is our Father and Jesus our Savior. We have a host of angels around us and members of the household of God as our family.
This is why we can pray and he can grant our requests according to his will. We can claim the blood.
