Isaiah 41: 9b Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
There are lots of “a gods” but there is only one God. You can put your name in these verses. You are chosen. I could have been cast away 1,000 times but God has not done so. He promised to go with us to the end. He made the promise and he will do it. That means we serve the right God.
He is everywhere. He’s as much present on the other side of the world as he is here. Jesus said it was expedient for him to go away so the Comforter could come. While Jesus was here he was in human flesh and could not be at the Sea of Galilee and somewhere else at the same time. He was man but still fully God. The Holy Spirit is here to help us. He lives within us. Our God is unlimited. Psalm 22 says he’s nigh in the time of trouble. When you think he’s not there or not paying attention, that’s when he is near. In this ungodly time it’s important to have him near. Isaiah 55 tells us to call on him while he is near. The time will come when men will call and he won’t hear. Romans 12 says he is nigh even in our mouth. He’s a word away. He wants us to call on him. We have not because we ask not. He wants us to recognize our need for him. He is exalted on his throne but at the same time near with us. You’ll never get a busy signal from him.
He is able to help regardless of the problem. You ask why he let mom die. I don’t know. If she was ready to go, God did her a favor. Death is the best friend we have. If we count our blessings we’ll find we can’t gripe too much to God. We have nothing except what he’s given us. Everything we have is on loan from him. He’s able to give us things. The Bible says to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. We’re serving the right God. Samuel says God is our strength. He put the sun in orbit and I could go on and on about what he’s done. He’s strong and strong enough to forgive sins. John said if we confess God is faithful and just to forgive. Satan may accuse you of something you did last week. If you have confessed it to God he doesn’t remember it anymore. Well past childbearing age Abraham and Sara were promised a son. They both laughed and God asked if there was anything too hard for God. If you need him, just ask him. He can do it.
He’s willing to help. We tie his hands. Until we recognize he’s willing, able and near he can’t help us. God loves the upright lost person but he also loves the alcoholic, the dope addict, and the sex pervert. He wants to help us all if we will let him. If you wonder and ask God why he hasn’t done something, maybe it’s because you haven’t let him. We see the present. God sees it all, past, present and future. He may spare us from who knows what. God knows best.
God is kind in helping us. God came down in the cool of the evening to visit Adam and Eve. He sought them in compassion and kindness even after they sinned. When God helps, he does it with kindness. Virginia and I have been married a long time. We aren’t always kind to one another. God’s love is stronger than death. It is everlasting. There are times I don’t like my kids but there is never a time I don’t love them. God is love and always loves us even if he doesn’t like what we’re doing. Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell all he had and give it to the poor. He went away sorrowful because he had great riches. Jesus loved him. When we ask Jesus to forgive us he does and we need to forgive ourselves and go on and serve the Lord.
