Mark 16: 5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
He is risen. This is a well-known phrase. People who know very little about the Bible know these three words. Other religions are familiar with it. Regardless of what others think, these words still stand. He is risen. It hasn’t been said about anyone else. None of our loved ones who are gone are risen. We may say good things about them but not that they are risen. Even those whom Jesus raised from the dead died again. They couldn’t say they rose on their own. Someone else—Jesus—did it for them.
Without a doubt and in total truth it rings loud and clear. He is risen. Jesus died once for the sins of everyone. If these words don’t stand the test of time, what good are they? A religion is no good if it only helps us in this life. When death comes my way, I’ll be all right because He is risen. This is what sets Christianity apart. The God of Christianity is the living God and the Savior of Christianity is Jesus Christ. Jesus is God’s son and his word to us. You have to choose and believe on him. You know you’re not an evolved organism; you were created by a Supreme Being. Even in my darkest hours I knew better than to live the way I lived. I knew God was real. Our arguments can’t stand against the truth.
The High Priest thought that by putting guards at the tomb they would keep Jesus dead. All their efforts didn’t stop Jesus from leaving the tomb. The angels said why seek ye the living among the dead? He is risen! The rulers conjured up a story and paid off the guards to lie. They were to tell others that the disciples stole the body of Jesus. I can’t help but wonder if over the years when asked by someone is they didn’t tell them the truth.
He is risen. This changes everything. When you believe, it changes everything in your life. You have hope. You see things form a different perspective. We think we’re invincible, but it doesn’t take much to put us down. God is real. He loves us. He saw we couldn’t save ourselves and loved us more than he hated our sin. Are you looking for meaning of life? Do you wonder why everything is working as it does? Don’t look for answers. Look for the Answer—Jesus. He’s more than a choice. He is the answer and what you need. He came for us because in our present condition we would be lost forever and die an endless death in eternity. What we couldn’t do Jesus did. By giving himself he took our cross, our suffering, our death. Instead of me dying, he did. We all deserved death but Jesus didn’t. As God in the flesh, Jesus died for us. But now he is risen.
I am saved. I shall live. Let’s dedicate ourselves to the living Master. The risen One waits.
