The message was brought by Bro. Wolford.
Ephesians 6: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
We all find ourselves in the middle of a battle. Everybody is smiling and looks good today, but we don’t see the heartaches, troubles and trials that others are facing. God is able. He didn’t promise to keep us from battles. There are some that God fights, but there are some we must fight. Satan didn’t trouble us too much while we were lost, but once we got saved he started in on us. He has a bull’s eye on our back. We’re in the last days and the battle is harder and harder. The television and newspapers read more and more like our Bible telling us that something is about to happen.
The elderly are attacked by their health. The young are attacked via their minds. Satan can use them and attacks to change their minds about God. It’s now a time when many things come before God. Sports are now on Wednesday and Sunday. God is supposed to come before sports and education. He must come first and we need to teach the young that. A battle is raging for our minds and our bodies. Are you going to stand?
These are hard days, but we are equipped to fight. How? The blessed book for one. Don’t just use it on Sundays or for entertainment. This is not just a book; it is our sword. When I get out the Word of God there is power to face the battle. We are begotten by the Word. Where would we be without it? If you’re not victorious, get in the Word.
The battle between darkness and light began thousands of years ago. Lucifer was the angel of the morning. He got lifted up saying he would be higher than the Most High. He fell and became our adversary, the devil—Satan. Darkness is here today. Jesus—the Light—shined and the darkness comprehended it not. The battle rages on. We had a government started on the Word of God. It’s now corrupt and it’s not just in the government but it’s in our churches. The gospel is watered down. People don’t get saved because nobody is lost anymore. There are so many false doctrines in the name of Jesus Christ. There is only one gospel. There is only one faith. There is only one baptism. It’s found in the Word of God.
Sometimes Satan makes it seem easier to backslide than to move forward and keep going on for the Lord. You’ll have struggles. Problems get heavy. Worry can make you physically ill. Run to the Word of God. Remember that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. If God be for us who can be against us? We can overcome. There is nothing God won’t help us through because we’ve been made more than conquerors.
How do you win? God showed his mighty wonders on the land of Egypt. Moses was leading God’s people out of bondage and was encamped at the Red Sea. They didn’t know what enemies and battles were ahead. They had only known slavery. At the Red Sea the armies of Egypt followed after them. They had nowhere to go. They knew they were in trouble. Moses told the people not to fear. He said stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
If you’ve been going here and yonder worried and worn out, all you have to do is stand still. Whatever the problem, you need to pray. But you need to stop the worrying. Stand still and let God move. If you don’t, God won’t move. He’s not a spare tire. Leave your prayer closet having cast your cares on him. Let go and let God have his way. Seek the Lord but don’t belly ache. The crying of the people didn’t do it. When they stood still, God moved.
He’ll do the same for us, so stand on the Word of God.
