The scheduled revival starts tonight, but it is high time now to move toward the Lord. There is always room to move a little closer to the Lord.
Romans 13: 11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Now is an important moment in your life. We have today; that is all we can say we have. The past is past. The future isn’t here. Today—this moment—is all that exists. We see signs from the Bible how it will be before the Lord returns. They are being fulfilled at every level. This moment is giving us a real chance to come alive, be awake, and ready ourselves for his coming. It’s also the time to ready ourselves to face what is before us now. It’s about victory in our lives now.
It is high time—meaning it is past due—to get closer to God. It is time to be saved—passed due. We don’t have to wait to be revived either. We must realize now is the time. It would take someone blind and deaf not to see the times we’re in. It’s a perilous and dangerous time. There is no other way to interpret it but to say these are the end times. God’s cup of wrath is almost full. It’s just about time for God to wrap it up and send Jesus after his children. When we go to the doctor’s office we sign in and have no idea how long we’ll wait to see him. Eventually we will, and we will meet the Lord. Are you ready? The times shout to us. The voices of wickedness cry out. Nature cries out. It is high time to get right because the end is near. It cries out for us to awake and come to life.
How drowsy are you physically? That’s natural. We can be wide awake physically but sound asleep spiritually. We can be asleep in church attendance, in our praying, in our Bible reading. We can get complacent and wishy-washy. Are you as committed to God as you used to be? As you should be? Are you saying things you shouldn’t? Thinking things you shouldn’t? Get back on track. Get your life in line. It’s high time now. Get involved again. Care again. Quit blaming others. It’s not the preacher’s fault or someone else’s. It’s not your medication. If you’ve fallen into a spiritual rut, no one is to blame but yourself. Break the habit of “churchy-ness” and get back to being a Christian. God never slumbers or sleeps on us. He expects us to be awake.
We’ll never have revival until we awake. Verse 11 tells us it’s high time to wake up. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Things are getting worse, but the Bible says we need to wake up because the day is at hand. Lift up your head! Leaving time is coming! He didn’t say the day is far spent; he said the night is. It will get worse for the wicked. Sin is pranced around now, but God is going to put a stop to it. The devil is one foot from the lake of fire. Times are just like the days of Noah. The night is far spent and day is about to dawn. The devil may tell you it doesn’t and won’t pay off to be a Christian. We are not losing out on a thing. It’s time to awake. It’s just about daylight.
I’m glad the night is about over and the new day is coming. The day came for Sodom and Gomorrah. They had their night of wickedness. When day came, Lot and his family got out, and God rained fire and brimstone down and destroyed the cities. When the sun comes up and the trumpet sounds, it will be the dawning of a day that will never end for us. Verse 12 tells us to cast off the darkness. It may seem to get worse, but in God’s eyes it is almost over; it’s almost dawn. The darkness will work to make us doubt and pull the rug from our spiritual foundation. It’s high time to cast it off. Lay it aside. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh. Cast off the night clothes and put on the garments of redemption. Jesus gives us what we need to wear.
How long has it been since you were fully clothed by Jesus Christ? The time has come to put off the pretense. It’s easy to pretend it’s all right. Put on Jesus Christ and put off the works of darkness. Are you ready to be dressed up? We got saved by coming to Jesus Christ. That’s the way to be revived—come to Jesus. Is it possible? Don’t you want to get things fixed up now? Don’t wait till tonight or the end of the week. Start now. It’s high time!
