Trees of the Lord

Psalms 104:16 The trees of the Lord are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; 17 Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.

We must have all the seasons to appreciate each of them.  We can appreciate trees each season.  In the fall trees go into dormancy, but they turn beautiful colors before the fall of the leaves.  God set all this in motion and is a sign that he takes care of us also.  The world was created systematically.  On the third day of creation the trees were made.  They had to come first so human and animal life could exist.  Trees inhale carbon dioxide that we exhale. We keep them alive.  In turn they keep us alive because we inhale what trees exhale—oxygen.  Thank God for trees!  If trees are asleep in the winter, how do we stay alive?  Remember the earth tilts on its axis and at any given time half the forests in the world are always green.  God provided natural trees to keep us alive naturally.  There are spiritual trees for us.

Man needs eternal life.  Genesis 3 tells us about the tree of life.  It was in the center of the Garden of Eden.  It kept the garden in perpetual life.  Adam and Even were permitted to eat of all the trees in the garden except one.  We don’t know how long they were in the garden before they ate of the wrong tree.  One day they did and access to the tree was taken.  Genesis 3:24 says so he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.  Adam and Eve had free access to this tree until they ate of the wrong tree and were cut off.  They sinned and fell.  You can’t eat the fruit of sin and the forbidden trees and turn around and eat of the tree of life.  When you make a choice for the forbidden, you lose access like Adam and Eve did.  They were driven from the garden and an angel was placed at the entrance to keep them out.  In your unsaved state realize the tree is lost from you.  You’re under the curse of sin.

Because of this sin another tree was found.  Christ redeemed us from the curse and through faith in him we can receive salvation.  We can have eternal life if we trust him.  That tree is called the cross.  It’s a tree that God’s justice required.  A payday is coming if we don’t accept Jesus.  He paid the debt in full.  This was a manmade tree and made because of man’s sins.  We should have hung there, but Jesus came to our sinful forest for one mission—to save people from their sins.  He came to our trees.  Headed for hell, Jesus held us back and placed himself on the cross in our stead.  We should have been crucified.  If we trust in what Jesus did on Calvary we are saved.  Through his righteousness, not our own, we now have access to eternal life again.

Revelation 22:1-2 states and he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. If we trust Jesus we’ll go to heaven and get to eat of the tree of life with access to it forever. If you have never been saved or have departed from the faith, believe that Jesus suffered for you.  You have no access to heaven and the tree of life without Jesus.  You must first come to the cross of Calvary and call on Jesus who hung there.  He’s ready to make you righteous and open a new and living way in your life.

What will you do with the Lord’s trees?  They are full of sap and there is enough to cover the sins forever.
