Being Accounted Worthy To Escape

The focus this past Sunday was on how quickly world-changing events will take place when the rapture happens.  I feel impressed to speak about the final instructions Jesus gave.  He was asked when all these things would come to pass, and he took time to explain it in detail.  Two thousand years ago Jesus described something that had been planned before he came the first time.  God’s plan, A to Z, was set up from the beginning.  Being accounted worthy to escape refers to the rapture of God’s people as they escape the wrath to come.  Being in a state of readiness means we can be accounted worthy to escape.

Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Luke closes this book with these words of Jesus. When the rapture happens, we can be ready. When the trumpet sounds, I want to be one of the called up.  In order for that to be, I have to be one of the called out who became a child of God.  The lost need to be saved.  We can’t believe just anything and make it.  It is through the blood of Jesus Christ, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must call on Jesus in belief and trust.  As saved people, we must stay on our toes and be in a state of readiness.  The last instructions of Jesus were to take heed.  Mankind will be corrupt.  People will fall away.  The main priority for us is to take heed to ourselves.  Guard yourself.  Keep a check.  Keep yourself right in order to keep yourself ready.  We must stay in close relationship with Jesus.  He didn’t say watch each other.  He said watch yourselves.  We trust the Lord to help and keep us as we keep ourselves in him through faith.  Don’t let anything come between God and you.

The rapture is a global event; the entire world, the entire human race—Adam forward—will be affected. The saved will be taken; the unsaved will be left behind.  There is a clear line. The saved are ready. The unsaved are not ready.  It’s a matter of saved or unsaved, ready or not ready.  Everyone has a part in the rapture, ready or not. Being left behind will be a nightmare.  Our part doesn’t need to be as part of the left behind.  We will be part of the taken if we are saved.  The only escape from the wrath of God is being taken.  The only way to escape our sins is Jesus Christ.  The only way to escape the judgment and wrath of God is through Jesus.  We’ll escape it through him.  There is no other means of escape.

Events are shaping now for a change to come.  Leaders will offer solutions and means of escape.  We already hear how we’ll be taken care of.  The Bible says people will be deceived by the swelling words of the Anti-Christ.  The only way to escape is the rapture.  When the Holy Spirit goes in the rapture, there won’t be a second chance.  There won’t be a place to hide.  Everybody’s survival plan will be dashed.  There is a period of time when people will want to die but can’t.  Over time the population will be decimated.  By the time of the final battle, there will be much fewer people on earth.  You can’t get to heaven without a Savior.  There will be no opportunity for salvation after the rapture because the gospel will not be preached and the Holy Spirit will not draw.  Without the gospel and the Spirit, a person cannot be saved.

Verse 35 says for as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.  The whole earth means everywhere.  Southwest Virginia won’t be immune.  The cities of the nation will fall.  Jobs will collapse.  It has to happen for a one-world government.  We’re shifting toward it today.  The computer chips are being prepared.  That’s why the advice is to take heed to yourselves.

Verse 34 says take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.  These are just examples of drifting away from the spiritual to the carnal.  We’re all tempted.  We have to watch for over indulgence and over living.  There is nothing wrong with pursuits that aren’t sinful, but if they take the place of God they are wrong.  Everything is done every day of the week.  We can get caught up in shopping instead of being in church.  We can get caught up in television instead of church.  School activities now take place during church times.  It’s all a matter of giving up the spiritual life for fleshly things.  God must be first.

Drunkenness is intoxication and it’s not just about alcohol.  You can get obsessed with many things.  Years ago our way of thinking was not influenced like it is now.  TV and Hollywood offer subliminal messages everywhere.  That’s why Jesus said take heed.  Watch yourself.  We must first seek the kingdom of God.  I don’t want anything to ruin my relationship with the Lord.  We can get caught up in the cares of life—health problems, finances, and hang ups that don’t matter.  That’s exactly what we’re not supposed to do.  We are to keep right with God and keep right with each other.  Don’t get bogged down in pettiness and be ensnared in a trap.  Pray for each other but also pray for yourself.

We are all accountable for our own spiritual life.  Be sure it is in order so that when the trumpet sounds, we’ll be accounted worthy.  As the old timers used to say—stay read up; stay prayed up so you can go up.  It’s the only way to escape the wrath of God.
