Paul’s Advice

II Corinthians 13: 11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.13 All the saints salute you.

I would have hated to be pastor of the Corinth Church.  It was even getting to Paul.  In this passage, Paul sums up his reminders to the church.  He wanted them to focus on certain things.  There was so much going on at that time much like there is today for us.  Paul told them to be spiritually mature.  Do right.  Be encouraged and an encourager and be of one mind. God’s opinion is all that counts and we can agree with the Word and be of one mind.  We can live in peace.

We can do all these things because of what has been given to us.  There are three blessings, or assets, from the Lord that enable us to be spiritually mature and live right.  They help us be encouraged and be an encourager.  They enable us to be of one mind.  We can be united and be at peace because of what Jesus gave us. Grace enables us.  The love of God changes hearts.  The communion of the Holy Ghost is with us.  If we go by a carnal spirit we know what happens.  God’s Spirit and communion with him bind us together and help us be the people of God that he wants us to be.  These are powerful blessings and will make us successful as Christians.
