Kids, Crumbs, and the Master

For all the effort the devil puts forward, all Jesus has to do is drop a crumb.  Sometimes you may think what’s the use to trust the Lord?  All I get from heaven are crumbs.  A crumb from heaven is enough!  There is food enough and to spare at the Master’s table.

Mark 7: 24 And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

Jesus was way north of the border of Israel into what is today’s Lebanon.  No matter how far north, south, east, or west you feel from the Lord, he is there.  He was there for a purpose.  He probably needed rest.  The efforts today to downplay what Jesus can do are useless.  Don’t believe it!  Jesus cannot be hid.  He’s as close to you as can be.  This woman may not have been able to travel to Jesus, but he came within her reach.  He’s within ours.  When she heard Jesus was there, she went to the house.  She wasn’t turned down.  She went in and fell at his feet.  He listened to her.  If you seek Jesus and set aside pride, arrogance, and self-assured thinking and admit your need of Jesus, you will get his attention.  He’ll help you.

It sounds like he didn’t want to help this mother, but it was quite the contrary.  He was all for it.  He tested her.  At the hardest times our faith will be tested.  If that home was fine she would not have come to Jesus.  She knew he was the only one who could help her child.  No others could.  Books offered no solutions.  The devil controlled her daughter which in turn vexed the whole home.

We live in a time of satanic working such as never been witnessed.  Even the young are sought out by Satan.  He’s after us all no matter how old or how far in the faith we’ve come.  He’ll get to us through whatever means he can.  We need to drop the current terminologies and get back to the Bible definitions of things.  What and how God defines is what matters. What is abnormal is considered normal.  Satan works in so many ways to get to us.  Many things are accepted even in this county.  All of these deviations are considered normal—marriage it out the door; sex is encouraged; legislation is being passed for abortion pills available to the very young; sexual orientation of all kinds in considered normal.  All this is taught in our school systems at a young age.  The devil is messing with the family to destroy the world and the church.

This woman’s daughter was out of control.  Letting your kids do what they want makes you part of it.  We trust in everything but Jesus.  We can no longer trust society or the government to do what is right, but we can trust Jesus.  He tells us the truth.  We won’t stand before the President or Hollywood.  We’ll stand before God, and if we don’t line up to his way, we’ll be in hell when it’s all said and done.

Where was this dad?  He had given up?  Had he left the job to the mother?  Dad may not know what to do, but this woman came to Jesus.  I don’t care how many contortions you get into, the only hope for you is to come to Jesus.  She didn’t wait on dad or the child.  She came in her desperation and fell at his feet.  She sought Jesus out.  It’s time to lay aside our image and strip off our modern-day life.  Forget what the neighbors or co-workers might think.  Forget what Congress says or does.  It’s not political.  It’s the devil working to take you to hell.  Where’s your family headed?  To get them in the right direction, you have to start that way yourself.

The people wanted a political Messiah.  They wanted a better country and way of life.  Squash the Romans but leave me and my sin alone was their thinking.  This woman was Greek.  Jesus told her he was to feed only the house of Israel (or so they thought). What could he do for her?  She agreed with him but said he came for all.  It’s time to stop looking down at others while in our self-righteousness we don’t do right ourselves.  Do we allow sin in our lives?  Before I can call anyone else a dog I have to look at this old bowser in the mirror.  I have no right to condemn others while I allow sin in my life.

This woman told Jesus that even dogs get crumbs from the table.  Kids and crumbs go together.  God has a table spread and a bite from heaven will make the devil flee.  She knew the power in just a crumb from the Master.  Pray for crumbs and the common sense to eat them!

Jesus saw her faith.  She was bold enough and humble enough to beg.  She had faith enough not to give up or get mad when Jesus didn’t answer her as she expected.  She kept fighting for her family.  Jesus came to help us all.  No matter how bad the situation is at home or at school, once you fall for the thinking of today’s society, you open the door for the devil to get in.  No one but Jesus can get him out.  He’s the devil buster!  She asked only for a crumb.  Jesus said he had not seen such faith from anyone in Israel.  He told her to go home because the devil was gone from her daughter.  Upon getting home she found her child resting peacefully.  She got her daughter back.  If we want success, we must take ourselves first to Jesus and then we can help our family.

There are crumbs waiting.  Jesus wants to deliver us.  He’s our only hope.  What will you do?
