Brother Reynolds Frye brought the message.
John 19: 1Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
Behold means to gaze at or look on. It’s a part of speech with exclamations that stand alone. Nothing or no one can stand like Jesus. Behold the man who paid it all that we might live. Behold the truth. It’s there. I was on my way to hell and beheld Jesus Christ. I asked him for forgiveness. He saved me. Nobody else can do that.
Matthew 11: 1And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see.
That’s what they did. Peter and John were going to the temple one day and a crippled man asked them for money. They told him they had no silver or gold. What they did have, they were more than willing to share. Peter said in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. The Bible says that Peter then took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. The man jumped up and went into the templewalking, and leaping, and praising God. You can’t buy what God offers. It was paid on the cross of Calvary. Behold! I’ve been all over the world but have never found anything or anyone like I found at the altar of prayer when I met Jesus. Behold the man! Tell the world he saves. Give hope to others by introducing them to Jesus.
Mark 10:46-52 says and they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
There are people who hate us because we gather in the name of God. In this story, a blind man wanted to get to Jesus. People who had infirmities in those days wore garments that identified them and their illness. This man threw away his garment before Jesus ever healed him. It’s time for us to follow Jesus in the Way. He’ll save people. Live the right kind of life in front of the world, in front of your neighbors and friends. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and he’ll make a way when there is no other way.
If you’re not saved, look to Jesus. Behold the man! Ask him to forgive you of your sins. You can have the hope of heaven through Jesus Christ.
