Let Us Now Go to Bethlehem

This is our final service before Christmas.  I’d like for all of us to think about thanks and praise to the Lord.  When the shepherds and wise men found the Lord they worshipped him; they gave thanks and praise.

Luke 2: 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

This has been a rough fall for the church.  Many people have passed on.  Through it all we’ve been immersed in Christ, not just the season but the nativity.  It concentrates on us as we do it.  What was it like for the shepherds to receive the message they did?  The light still shined even after the angels departed.  Now they understood what it meant.  The message they received left them with a desire to go unto Bethlehem.  They had the signs to look for—a babe wrapped in swaddle lying in a manger. That meant they searched stables.  With haste they made their way toward Bethlehem using the clues they had.  They found Jesus just as they were told.

Tonight, let us now go even unto Bethlehem.  Is there anything you’d like to say to Jesus?  Think about what the shepherds and wise men might have said.  What fills your heart?  What do you need to tell Jesus?  Let us go and tell him.

Everyone was given the opportunity to share a testimony of praise to the Lord.  We closed out the service with “Joy to the World” and fellowship.  “Let heaven and nature sing.  Joy to the world.  The Lord is come!”
