He is born. Three simple words. I’ve preached from this scripture many times. For believers in Jesus Christ, two choices are before us. 1: Sell out and believe with all your heart; give your all to the Lord, body, soul, spirit, and life. 2: Forget about the Lord and walk away. There is no middle ground with the Lord. There is no way to have Jesus Christ and serve yourself or some other master in this world. Jesus made it loud and deliberately clear. He was not a religious figure. He came to save the world from sin, not to establish some new religion. This is what people want. Many want Jesus to be only a figure for religion. There is a tendency not to fully embrace Jesus because all some want is a religion. I despise to be called a religious person. Christianity is not about that at all. Let’s accept Jesus all the way. He IS born. Consider it.
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Unto you is born a Savior. The angel announced it to the shepherds and was relaying an undeniable fact of something that had already happened. A Savior was living in the world. He had no doubt. He saw it happen and was delivering the news that He is born this day. This is one of the most important statements ever made in history. There are two of them that are of utmost importance to mankind. The first is He is born. This marked the beginning of his earthly endeavor to save us. The second is He is risen. The women went to the tomb that first Easter morning. The angel told them he is not here for he is risen as he said. The world will tolerate and promote all sorts of religious opinions, but when it comes to Jesus Christ they hate him. Mankind has to acknowledge heaven and hell. He has to acknowledge his own sin. He has to let go of what is destroying his soul. The only one who can do anything about the sin problem of man is Jesus Christ. The angel said he shall save his people from their sin.
This goes deeper than a criminal being rehabilitated. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Everyone who rejects Jesus will go to hell for their sins. We cannot save ourselves. We need a Savior and He is born. This is not past tense. His birth means as much today as it did over 2,000 years ago. His resurrection means as much today as it did that first Easter. He IS born. This is not a promise to blindly trust. It actually happened. The only begotten son of God is born. He is in heaven now having resumed his glory in human form. His body still holds the scars. History wouldn’t be the same if not for this statement. He could not have risen from the dead if he had not been born. God couldn’t die. In order for our sins to be forgiven, God became human through Jesus Christ in a manger. That’s the way he died for our sins. There would be no Christmas without him. There is nothing, no reason for any of it without Jesus.
He changes our history. Think about life before you were saved. Upon accepting Jesus into your life you became a new creature. He changed your history. When we reach for what is forbidden his nail-scarred hand helps us. In those moments we feel like we can’t make it, a path is made for us. We don’t make life bearable on our own. The Savior does it for us. He is born equals the fact that he is who he is—Lord of Lords, Master, Savior, Alpha and Omega, and King of Kings forevermore.
He is yours. Unto YOU is born a Savior. He is your way maker, your provider, and he is Wonderful, Counselor, the Everlasting Father, the Mighty God, and Prince of Peace. He’s everything you need. Who would you be if it hadn’t been for the Lord? These three words give meaning to life. We are somebody because SOMEBODY is born. Because of him, we are somebody that will live forever. There is a reason to live. We matter to the Lord. Once strangers and orphans, homeless and lost, we are now the found, forgiven children of God. We’re fellow citizens of the Kingdom of God. Altogether we’re the saints of the Lord. Trust in the Lord. Let everyday be Christmas. Rejoice. He IS born. He IS risen. He IS ascended and at the right hand of the Father. He IS coming again.
When Jesus was taken to the temple at eight days old, Simeon heard the voice of a baby and sought him out. He took Jesus in his arms and said Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation. We can take Jesus into our hearts just as Simeon took him into his arms. Because He IS born we have hope of a forever tomorrow. We have hope for those who have died in the Lord. We have hope we can go to heaven. I can agree with Simeon. I can depart in peace from this old world because He IS born.
It’s not magic. It’s the truth. For God so loved the world he gave. Unto you is born this day…a Savior which is Christ the Lord. Open your heart if you’ve never been saved and find out for yourself that He IS born.
