Zechariah 10:12 “And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD.”
Most of us have undergone therapy to recover from an injury or surgery. I never gave therapy much credence until I tore my rotator cuff. It was the same with my throat. I did therapy in both instances, and you all know how much it helped.
We can be crippled physically, but we can also be crippled emotionally and mentally. Worst of all, we can be spiritually crippled. This is what the devil wants to do to us. We take our health for granted. One of my biggest fears is the loss of my eyesight. The other is loss of mobility. As bad as physical immobility is, spiritual is worse. God provides us with therapy for our soul.
The Lord made us a promise. Through the suffering of Jesus, who willfully immobilized himself, we can have strength. Jesus took upon himself our spiritual infirmities. The Bible says he carried our grief and sorrow. He let it cripple him, but he overcame it. Now we have access to a Savior who is our therapist. He can treat us when we’re down and out, when we’re spiritually weak. There is no spiritual strength in the natural man. The devil works on us in that regard. Because the Lord took it all upon himself, he is able to provide strength for us now. Verse 12 says we can be mobile. We can “walk up and down in his name.”
No one likes a hard climb. We can’t say “I’ll make it. I don’t need prayers of others or the support of God.” We give out quickly without the help of God. If there is anything we need, it is the therapy of God. Jesus knows just how to work us to bring us through. He feeds us with the right nutrition and exercises us the right way spiritually so that our troubles make us stronger in the Lord.
Therapy costs, but it helps. None of us would be here if God had not given us the strength to go on in his name. That’s his promise. Do you need a therapy session with Jesus? When you follow his instructions, you’ll find you can do more and go farther all because you have a Savior who will be your therapist.
