Peter didn’t want the people to forget what kind of Master they had. His two epistles are full of short, quick reminders. He had been witness to many things during his time with the Lord. He knew what he was talking about.
I Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
This is a clear statement about the Lord that we need to remember. “Careth” is present tense. “Casting” is ongoing. God cares for us. It’s a clear fact. We say it a lot. We were taught it as kids. We accept it and go on, but there is more to it than we realize. Think about it. God’s care is shown all through the Bible, but very rarely is it written so straightforward as in this verse. It’s a precious truth. The high, holy, and perfect God cares for us.
We could never be presentable enough to God, but because he cares, we’re saved. Jesus forgave that paralyzed man because he cared for his soul. It’s the only reason the church exists today. Christianity exists because God cares. It’s why there was a Calvary. It’s the only reason he suffered. He cares for us. He didn’t do all that to prove himself. He was pleasing the Father, but the motivation was that he cared for us much more than meets the eye.
We live in an uncaring world. People will pass you right by. You can feel isolated and insignificant. Jesus told us to consider the lilies. If he cares enough to cloth the fields with such beauty, how much more will he take care of us? God knows every tree, every flower, and every bird. He takes care of things we ignore. Peter said not to be hesitant to cast our care on him because he cares for us. His presence fills heaven and earth. It’s not that he used to care. He cares now. The heart of others may change toward you, but God’s heart never changes. He loves and cares for you. In your mountains and valleys, he’s there.
We must give credit where it’s due, and we can credit no one with our life but God. We’re more than tiny specs of the sea in the midst of an uncaring world. We do matter. You matter. You mean something to God. You’re watched over. He proves he cares by his attention. He’s sensitive to your needs. We break his heart all too often, but he still cares.
All our cares and burdens were weighed on the cross when Jesus carried our whole load of cares. He did it because he cares for us. We can look all around us and find that all people have one thing in common. We need to be cared for. Jesus will do what it takes to do it. Because of this, we can cast all our care upon him.
Jesus cares..for You.
