Today we celebrated our 47th birthday as a church. If there can be an old fashion camp-meeting service nowadays, there was one at Adwolfe F.W.B. !! The service began with some grand old songs and joint prayer by all. Scripture reading by the pastor was followed by lots of deep, heart-felt singing by the original Gospel Way Quartet, with Johnny Cress singing baritone. Then Johnny and his daughter Megan sang an old hymn aceppella. The Wright Family, an exceptional old-time mountain gospel band, came and blessed our hearts greatly. Each family member plays a different instrument, and their harmony is God-annointed. There was a fellowship song, with lots of hugs and handshakes. The original charter members still living were recognized, and a moving memorial prayer for our folks in Heaven was led by one of the charters, J.R. Stines. Jonah Shoop from Lebanon, Va. brought a most stirring, inspiring message. Be sure to read it. The service ended with a powerful altar call and more fellowship. Then came the dessert: old-style dinner served by the best cooks in Smyth County! Our hearts were with all those who could not be with us, and we missed you all. May God continue His great hand upon our church as we strive to please and serve Him.
