Unto His Own: the Apostle John wrote these very words to teach us an important truth about the coming of God’s Son. Through his conception in the virgin womb of Mary, he would be one of us. You see, Christ came into this world not only to visit us in human form but to become one of us. In order for you and me to be saved from our sins and belong to him, he first had to belong to us. He had to be in our world and live as we do. He became a member of his own creation’s family. Only then, being human as well as God, could he take unto himself everything about us from our sins to our smallest burden.
