I Have It. Give It.

The message was brought by Roger Clark.

Acts 3:1-9 “Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.  And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.  And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.  Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.  And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.  And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.  And all the people saw him walking and praising God.”

II Corinthians 11:23 “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you…”

We have something from God to pass on. The gospel is entrusted to us. There are two types of Christians—the ones who have something to give and those who have little to nothing to give. In the story in Acts, Peter told the man who asked for an offering that he had no money “but such as I have give I thee.” There is power in the name of Jesus Christ. We have him. We need to give him.

What do we have to offer?

  1. The plan of salvation: we have no power to save but as saved people we can give the plan of salvation to the lost. When a sinner is saved the plan has been passed on. There is a need to give it. We ought to have a concern for it. We have a responsibility to give it. If we don’t the lost person’s blood will be on our hands.
  2. The truth: we’d be destitute without the rock solid truth of the Bible. There are so many opinions, many not true. They are opinions destitute of the truth. Many say they know it but have not come to the knowledge of it. There are even many opinions in pulpits today. People have departed from the truth.  The truths of the Bible are the virgin birth, the sinless life, and the shed blood of Jesus on Calvary. There in truth in the ministry of the Holy Spirit. The Bible should be our council not the ungodly. Our advice needs to be from the truth of the Bible. We have it. Give it.
  3. Testimony: Psalm 107:2 says: Let the redeemed of the LORD say so.”  We have been delivered from the enemy. We ought to have a testimony to that effect. It should be shared with our family, friends and the community. The devil fights it, but as we’ve received we should so give. No Christian should be ashamed to tell what Jesus has done for him.
  4. Life to give: all the saved have given their life to give to the Lord. Jesus said to take up the cross and follow him. Whosoever saves his life will lose it; whosoever loses his life for the sake of the Lord will find it. We’ve been given life in the Lord. Whenever the pastor visits, studies, and preaches he is giving some of his life to his congregation. We have life in the Lord. Give it for him.

We all have something to give. Give it.
