Heaven’s Theme Song

Bro Roger Clark brought the message.

What is heaven’s theme song?  In Revelation 5:5 the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” and the “Root of David” are mentioned.  Verse 6 mentions a Lamb. Who is this?  The Lamb is Jesus Christ the Son of God.  John the Baptist said “behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”  This Lamb was slain for sinners; He died on the cross. Heaven bears the marks of the sacrifice.  It is no that the angels proclaimed “worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, honor, and glory, and blessing.” (Rev 5:12)

Revelation chapter 5 is beyond the rapture. First Thessalonians chapter 4 says “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”  Be comforted by these verses. One day the God will send the Lamb to removed his people from earth.  Everything is moving to the consummation of the ages.  Our hearts would faint at the situation of the world. Sunday is not the Lord’s Day anymore. It’s sports day. If a child is close to God, it is the Lord’s Day.  The problems with the nations will soon to an end.  What is going on closes in on the fact that it pays to serve the Lord. No matter what, serving Christ is not a lost cause. Press on. Jesus Christ will remove us.

People in the world constantly want to receive something, and if they bow at the foot of the cross they will receive it. The Christian wants to receive something. One day we will receive our glory.  Christ also wants to receive something from us.  He wants our worship. He wants our praise. He wants our affection.  He is worthy in heaven and earth to receive our love and our service. He deserves our faithfulness.

Verse 12 says He is worthy to receive power.  The rulers of the world have abused their power. They are not worthy of it. Hitler had power and misused it to try and wipe out the Jewish nation.  Jesus is worthy of power. How does he use it? He created the world by his power.  He saves sinners by his power. He uses his power to keep us in time of trouble. He watches over us. He blesses us.

Jesus promised that we would receive power.  Read Acts 1:8.  “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.”  The Holy Spirit is our secret power from God. We are to bless the world with our testimony.

He is worthy of riches. He had none on this earth. He said that the foxes have holes but he had nowhere to lay his head. II Corinthians 8:9 says “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”  Jesus depended on love gifts. He preached on a borrowed boat and was buried in a borrowed tom—from which he arose to make us rich in heaven with him. He wants to share everything in heaven with us. We may be poor now, but we’ll be rich.

He is worthy of honor. He is worthy of blessing. We can’t add anything to his glory. It wouldn’t hurt us to do as David did when he wrote “bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me; bless his holy name.”  We will bless the Lord in heaven, but let’s bless him here.

The theme song of heaven:  Worthy is the Lamb that was slain.
