What God Has In Mind

The Lord knows what he’s thinking about. Sometimes I think I know only to find out I don’t.  I just think I do.  God said “I have something in mind.”  It’s a blessing that God thinks of us.  He is more than aware of every condition we’re in. It’s not just our working; it’s our working together with God.

Jeremiah 29:10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.  11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

We are on God’s mind. This church is on his mind. Revival is on his mind. God has set things before us. Sometimes there are conditions in which he says “if you do this” then “I’ll do this.”  However, this is not a checker game. Praise God! We are on his mind no matter what.  He has something for me, something for you, something for all of us. We have a plan for revival. We prepare, pray, and plan our days so we can attend. We make efforts. We all know God plans more for us than we can ever plan for him. God has not nor will he ever fail in this.

This scripture was given at the end of Israel’s Babylonian captivity. It had been a long time since they had seen their homeland. It had been a long time since they could be themselves. It had been a long hard road. God told Jeremiah to tell the people that he had something in mind.  Don’t give up.

God has a great plan for us. Think back to yesteryear. There was a thrust and zeal. The devil stepped in and made us think there is joy in everything but God. The Holy Spirit has not changed. The word of God has not changed. Jesus has not changed. There is nothing new in what God wants. Even with times as they are God has something for us; he has a plan.

God knew the captives needed a visit from him. How would you feel if a family member dropped in and said “I just had you on my mind?” God has us in mind. He wants to visit us. In past times we experienced the Visit of God. He took us in his arms. We don’t have to ascertain anything; we just need to enjoy the visit. The angel told Zechariah and Mary “surely the Lord will visit you.”  Look what happened to them.

God wants to perform his good word toward us. He’s promised to help us. He fulfills this everyday, but he’s talking about a special visit to perform his good word. Sure God’s word is sharp and powerful; it can trim us. It is also be the salve that heals. It’s the honey in the honey comb. It’s the taste of cool water. We are on his mind. He will perform the goodness of his word.  Can it be? Is it possible to feel like you’re saved all over again? Can we feel that joy?  The only thing that keeps it from us is our getting in the way.

In verse 11 he again says “I have something in mind.”  His thoughts are of peace. The devil aggravates us to death. We feel bad in body. He tries to take away our peace. No matter what is piled up before us we don’t have to let it rob us of our peace. Let the obstacles go and get with God. There is peace. God has in mind that very peace for you heart right now.

God also said he has an expected end. He’s not pulling our chain. The final thing he wants to give us back is our expectation. The devil tries not only to take our peace but also our expectation. If one has his hope taken away, then what is left? He tells us there is no reason to go on; things will only get worse. God says he’ll give us back our expectation. That hope is what keeps us going. It’s not only what God does today but what he’ll do tomorrow and next week and next year.  Satan would love to take that away from us. Don’t give up your hope or your expectations.

Since God wants this, let’s let him have his way.  He says when we pray we will be heard. When we seek we will find.  I cannot think of anything more precious from God than to be on his mind.  Ask him to have his way.
