Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to
go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed;
and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in
the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles
with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he
looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is

God. 11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive
seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged
him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore sprang there even of one,
and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude,

and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. 13 These all died
in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and
were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that
they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such
things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they
had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might
have had opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country,

that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for
he hath prepared for them a city.

God is a God of faith. Verse 1 tells us faith is the
substance of things hoped for and the evidence of what we can’t see. True faith
goes into action. It’s a trust and reliance on the Lord.  We like to live by sight but we must live by
faith. We feel the wind, but we cannot see it.
Romans 5:1 says therefore being
justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

In Genesis 12 God called Abraham to get up, promised him a
new land, a great nation, a great name—he would bless all the earth. Abraham
had no idea that in 2009 we’d still be talking about him. What we have here is
just temporary. God won’t let us go without. He is better than our faith. We
can judge him faithful just as Sara did in verse 11. We don’t have to doubt
that he will return for us. He’s not a liar or cheater. He is faithful. When
the impossible pops up in our lives, God makes it possible. Remember we cannot
wind God’s clock by our time. It’s in his time.

In Genesis 18:12 we read that Sara laughed at the
announcement that she would conceive a child in her old age. God honored her
small faith. Later on we see Abraham taking Isaac to the mountain even though
it must have taken every ounce of faith he had. He proved himself to be a true
servant of God. How could Abraham have offered his own son?  Flip that coin.  How could God offer his son? Abraham knew God
had power over life and death and was willing to do what God asked.

Faith is more than hearing; it’s doing. Moses’ faith parted
the waters. The marching around Jericho,
which seemed strange, would not have happened if not for their faith in
following the word of God. David needed no shield to kill Goliath. He guided
the sling. God guided the stone.

We serve an unseen God. We have everything we need from him.
It’s there. Our needs are supplied. Trust God for the impossible. God will come
through.  God loves us; he loves lost
people. He’s always there, never too busy, never asleep. Just have a little
faith.
