Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on
this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came
together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19man, and not willing to make her a publick
example, was minded to put her away privily. Then Joseph her
husband, being a just 20 But while he thought on
these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream,
saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:
for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she
shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save
his people from their sins.
The richest man on earth needs Jesus. The poorest man on earth needs Jesus. The
rich can learn from the poor, and the poor can learn from the rich. EVERYBODY needs Jesus. Everyone needs the kind of friend Jesus is.
In joy, in sorrow, in prosperity, in poverty, in health, in sickness, when
lifted up, and when cast down…Jesus is our friend for now and forever. Why do we need Jesus?
- Because
of our past. Romans 3:23 says “all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God.” We needed something
to be done about our sins. Our deeds, thoughts—the ones we try to hide or
excuse—all need to have something done. The remedy is the fountain filled
with blood. Sinners plunged beneath the flood loose all their guilty
stains. God loves us. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins. Romans
5:8 says “but God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Our yesterdays are filled with sin. The
Lord can take it and put it behind his back never to remember it again.
When we come to Jesus and believe on what He did for us, we can be saved. - Because
of our present. Yes. We came short yesterday. Today we need a present help
in our everyday life. We can do all things through Christ. He gives us the
right principles, the right purpose, the right provisions. We need Him.
Jesus is closer to the Father than we are. At the Father’s right hand He
whispers our needs and is our intercessor. - Because
of our future. We live in a land of time. Death is creeping upon us. A few
more trials and toils of life will be the end and we’ll be in heaven. The
rapture is more than death. Death is more than the rapture. Death is the
judgment. We’ll receive our rewards. It’s more than judgment. It’s the
Marriage Supper of the Lamb. It’s more than the Marriage Supper; it’s
eternity—everlasting life. We have so much because of our God in heaven.
Are you not saved? You need Jesus. He is worth having. In
any situation you have today, you need Jesus. There is not a friend like Him.
Romans 6:23 says “the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Jesus is the precious Gift from heaven. Heaven probably felt bankrupt
when Jesus came to earth. Salvation was purchased, pleasing, and personal.
- There is
no fault in his birth—he was virgin born. - There
was no fault in his death—it was for us so that we could be saved. - There
was no fault in his burial and resurrection—he won the victory over death,
hell and the grave. - There
was no fault in his ascension—he will come again.
Jesus goes beyond the manger. He goes beyond today. The best
gift we can give him is our heart and life. He came and died for our sins.
There’s not a fried like the lowly Jesus. NO NOT ONE. No one ever suffered like
he did. The wrath of God was upon him when it should have been on us.
Thank God, he’s my friend. Everybody ought to know Jesus!
