HEROD'S  FIRST  CHRISTMAS

" In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation,

and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not
be comforted, because they are not."
Matt. 2:18

Here
is the saddest, indeed, the most horrible part of the Christmas story. Here is
dark side to the Advent; which often goes unrealized during this season. The
very Bringer and Giver of Life had been born, and the response from the one in
power was one of the deepest hatred and heartless malice. To make matters
worse, the king legalized it, making it all right to murder the hundreds of
those little innocent ones. The joys of Jesus' arrival in the hearts of so many
families around Bethlehem were quickly turned into unspeakable agony. And all
of it was senseless. It accomplished nothing but misery.

 If there is anything
that should disturb us this season, it is the current, everyday repetition of
this both in our nation and most of the world as a whole. Legalized murder,

otherwise known as abortion, has killed more than 43 million unborn children in
the U.S. since Roe vs. Wade in 1973. The reason abortion is so popular is that
people don't want to be held accountable for their actions. They want to be able
to live how they want with no sense of guilt or repercussion. The "reasoning"
behind this? Well, here are a couple. "It's my body and I can do what I
want with it."  " It is a
woman's right to be able to choose."
First, this baby is not "part" of your body. It is attached to
and growing inside the woman, but it is a totally different body and person. It
has different feelings, different thoughts, and different body parts. The
unborn child is a totally different person that his or her mother has been
blessed with and is to care for. And sure, everyone has the ability to choose,

but having an ability doesn't make it right. Being legal doesn't make it right.
These children do not get to have a say. They are defenseless. If they would be
allowed to be heard, what do you think they would say? " Go ahead and kill
me, I don't really matter anyway, and besides, you don't want to be tied down
with me."

You know, I think from the documented reactions of those little
ones during the abortion "procedure," the writhing, the frantic
drawing away from the sharp, cutting instruments, the kicking, grasping to the
womb, and the soundless movements of those little lips, THEY DO VOICE THEIR
OPINION. But this is all covered up and smoothed over. In just a few minutes
all is over with. One little life is now dead and its mother recovers, only to go on back to doing with their bodies as
they choose. However, it's not over so easily. The mother soon is overcome with
guilt and depression or becomes even harder in heart and empty of any
remaining moral values. So the defilement continues and worsens. Darker and
darker their world becomes and the more impossible it becomes for them to
experience true, respectable love. And the more insensitive their conscience
gets to God's dealing and offer of forgiveness. There is complete forgiveness,

but one has to want it before one can receive it. And to continue in known,
willful sin is to shut off His mercy and shut out His voice.

Herod
did what he did, made legal what he did, without blinking an eye. Without
losing any sleep. Without caring for anyone else, not even his own soul. All
because he loved the power to choose and to do anything he wanted, without
restraint. No doubt Herod had since wished a million times he had really
listened to and believed the Wise Men.

Let's take a moment and pray for those
considering abortion. For those little ones. For the families involved. For our
blinded nation and its leaders. Then, let's determine to live and choose the
right, be both genuine and exemplary when alone and when with others. The
primary way to avoid abortion question is to not engage in any form of sex
until people become husband and wife, as even nature and sensible conscience
teaches us. Let us not endorse, excuse, nor enjoy being entertained by this ungodliness either. Let's not kid ourselves. We know this is true without even opening
our Bibles. And do not debate this with others as just another political issue.
This is murder, and folks who do not see it for what it truly is need help,

not arguments and condemning accusations. Help them with the Truth. Help them
with the Right, by our living right. Help them to Jesus.

Rachel has weeped enough for her children.
