The message was brought by Reynolds Frye.

Luke 6: 46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not
the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my
sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is
like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a
rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and
could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that
heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house
upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately
it fell; and the ruin of that house was great
.

Sometimes we don’t dig deep enough to get a solid
foundation. There has to be something rock solid to hold to. Our Rock is the
Lord. Any other foundation is sinking sand. There are three words in verse 47
to note—come, hear, do. Jesus told us to come to Him; all of us who are laden
down with care can come and find rest. So we know He wants us to come.  When we come we have to hear Him. No only do
we have to come and hear we have to do what He says. Verse 49 says he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a
man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the
stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house
was great
. When we do all three, we are on the right track and will be able
to make it through the storms.

When we dig deep we can believe II Timothy 1:12 when it says…for I know whom I have believed, and am
persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that
day.
The word of God is good and powerful. It trims us up. If we get our
self in the way and do not dig deep we will not make it. Don’t just read the
Word, let the Word read us.

Jesus told the rich young ruler that he lacked one thing.
The young man had kept the commandments from his youth. The thing he lacked
stood between him and the Lord. His money was more important. The riches of the
world may drag us down, but with God we can have riches unknown.

I Corinthians 3:10
According to the grace of God which is
given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another
buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
It’s
worth it all to build on the right foundation. The man in the sand was building
when he should have been digging. Both of these men came to Jesus. Both heard
Him. One didn’t do.

When we come, hear and do the word of the Lord we can find
eternal life. There is peace and joy. Jesus is soon coming to get His people.
It’s important to stay on the Rock. The gates of hell cannot stand against THE
ROCK.
