Roger Clark brought the message this evening.
3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the
oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath
they hate me.
4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
Christians are not exempt from heartache. Have you ever been in need of peace? Have you needed relief from grief, trouble, and woes. God can handle every crisis. Paul asked for relief from his thorn in the flesh but God told him His grace was sufficient to handle the crisis. Don't doubt God in the crisis. Don't doubt that God can take care of the big as well as the little things. So what do we do in times of crisis?
We claim the promises of God through the word of God. What would we do without the Bible? We'd not know the promises. Romans 8:31 tells us that if God is for us, who can be against us. I John 1:9 tells us God is faithful to forgive us when we sin. John 14 tells us not to be troubled. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us. Open the Bible and find the promises; in times of crisis claim the promises.
Find a secret place to pray. Matthew 6:6 tells us to have a secret place to pray. When we pray in secret the Lord will reward us openly. He hears and answers our prayers. In times of crisis whisper his name for comfort.
Count your blessings. God is a good God. Every good and perfect thing comes from Him. When crisis comes, count your blessings.
God is present. He never leaves us or forsakes us. He is a present help in time of need, so go to Him in times of crisis.
Stay with God. Don't abandon the ship. Stay with the church. Pray for the preacher. Our best behavior should be found at the house of God. In times of crisis stick with the Lord.
God can take away the crisis of the sinner. We are lost without God. John 1:11-12 says that when we call on the name of Jesus, we become the children of God. Jesus made the greatest trip ever made when He came to earth and died for our sins. Paul and Silas were in jail. They sang and the jail house began to rock. The jailer feared for his life and asked them what he could do to be saved. They told him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:13 says whoever calls upon the Lord will be saved. He can save all that come to Him. Just a little talk with Jesus makes it right. Sinners are fortunate they are not in hell right now. That crisis can be settled by calling on the name of the Lord.
The coming of Jesus will deliver us from all the crises. I Thessalonians 4 tells us that the dead will rise and we'll be caught up to meet them. Now is the time to be a friend of God. He is hated. Jesus is hated. We'll be hated if we stand for Him. It will be a wonderful time when we go to heaven. It will be an awful time for the world. Sinners will cry for the rocks to hide them from the most violent time of judgment on the earth.
We need God in this day and time. God can handle every crisis; the storms will come until Jesus does, but we can claim the promises, keep our secret place, and count our blessings. God can handle the times of crisis.
