21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ
also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he
threatened not; but committed
himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we,

being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the
Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Peter made his mistakes. He did so often before he was saved. After the day of Pentecost we have no record of his falling back on his old ways. Moses talked about a prophet to come. The Lord's name was put out all through history.  Trouble and hardship came to God's people. Israel was silent. They looked for a Messiah on a white horse to claim the throne and rule the world. They expected royalty; instead they got a poor family. They looked for someone like David, fair to look upon. The Bible says Moses was a goodly child. However there was no comeliness about the Lord. His was on the inside, yet they looked on the outside. Prior to His birth there was a crown on His head; He took it off and was born in a stable. He later would say that the foxes have holes and the fowl of the air have nests but He had nowhere to lay His head. From His birth there was no room for Him. Jesus was a homeless man. He hung on the cross and came out of the tomb with the keys of death and hell. They had to let go. The devil does not have the keys!!

By the stripes He suffered we are healed. The crowd continually followed Jesus seeking healing. They wanted a doctor. He looked at them with compassion and healed them. Most people came asking Him for it.  There were times when He did it without being asked. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool,

and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the
water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when
the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming,

another steppeth down before me.
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed and walk. He answered them, He that hath made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up they bed, and walk.

He was a doctor to that man.

A woman, not a Jew, had no right to ask for the healing of her daughter. Still she came and begged if of Jesus. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast
it to dogs.
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great
is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. In ridicule she could have left. However she turned the other cheek and asked again. He gave it to her because of her faith. He was a doctor to that woman.

A man could not get to Jesus for the crowd; his friends lowered him down through the roof. And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive
them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken
it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that
they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye
these things in your hearts?
Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy,
Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth
before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God,

saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
He was a doctor to that man. Our soul is in our hands. Bring it to Jesus, and He'll forgive us and give us a home in heaven. We must humble ourselves before God or we take our own soul to hell. Jesus is not willing that any perish. We do it to ourselves.

The Bible says  Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the
church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name
of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the
Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be
forgiven him
.

Jesus can and will heal. He didn't preach come and be healed but He
healed and He healed time and time again. We can be healed and still go
to hell; the healing of the soul is the important thing BUT HE IS A DOCTOR TOO.
