Is There Nothing Better For Me?

Saul was after David. David had faced Goliath. but here we find David down and out. He was part of King Saul's family; he was married to his daughter, yet Saul pursued him–to kill him. Saul was sleeping in the tent. His general Abner was there to guard him along with his army gathered round him. David went into the tent. His men told him to kill Saul while he slept, yet David would not touch the Lord's anointed. He cried from the hillside to Saul relating what he had done. Saul gave David false assurance. He told him not to worry for he was not out to kill him. David was worried though. Here at this low point he said is there nothing better for me?

I Samuel 27:1 And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is

nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land
of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more
in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.

This same question is on many minds today. What about me? Is there nothing better for me? Is there anything good? Is it going to be better? Will I feel better? Will I see better times? None of us are above feeling this way. Here David, a man after God's own heart, was saying these same words. A lot of things are after us today. The devil pulls every rabbit he can out of the hat. We find ourselves saying "will it ever be better than right now."

In some aspects it won't. It depends on us. We can't drown in the moment. It doesn't have to rule us. It won't be better if we decide to give up on the Lord. Always serve the Lord. It is far better right now than giving up. Remember, even if God has left you on the bed of affliction, HE DOES NOT FAIL.

There is nothing better if we go back into the world. Do you tell yourself it will be easier to go back than to live for God? Don't fall for that trick of the devil. It will only get worse. In fact, Jesus said it will be seven times worse. That's plain talk, but we're better off where we are now, no matter how bad it seems, than to go back into the world. Don't let the present things consume you. There are worries and burdens. We can't let them break us. The Lord says He will bear our burdens. If He doesn't relieve us of them, He gives us the grace to bear them.

Nothing will be better if we don't want it to be better. Some people like to be sick. They get attention. They revel in finding things wrong with them. Nothing gets better if we just lay there. We must want the better day. Hebrews 11:39-40 says And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
It's not He will provide but that He already has provided. We find this is a needless question for we are to trust in the Lord. Sure we have doctors, friends, and family. They may not be able to provide; they may not be able to come through. GOD HAS PROVIDED SOMETHING BETTER. It is better that what we have now. It is tangible; it is real. It does exist. We already have it.

It's easy to see the devil discouraging us and others. Why is it so hard to see what God does? We can dwell on the bad and count how many problems we have, BUT if we count the blessings we will find there are more of them than there are problems. It was there before the suffering. We have failed to consider it; we let it slip through the cracks. Stop and smell the roses. It is provided. Ask for it. Get sincere with God. We say, "Oh, I've asked God." Have we really? He will provide something better.

It is better ahead; the rest of life doesn't have to be as it is now. David didn't stay in this wilderness. He trusted God. The gray skies cleared. Time goes on. Things change.Wounds heal. The devil soon leaves when we trust God, really trust Him. It is better eternally. We'll have a new body, a new life, and a new world. If we just trust in the Lord long enough, He'll get us out of here. We will see those clear skies. When we leave here, the BEST IS YET TO COME!

And there abideth faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these is love. God's love stays the same.Faith will always be there for us to use. Hope remains. Our now doesn't have to be the best there is. Stop questioning and start trusting. Is there nothing better for me? Of course. There is something better for us all. And it is already here and waiting.
