heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power,
unto the Lord our God:
2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he
hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her
fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. 3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. 6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and
as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings,
saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine
linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of
saints.
We express words to each other to convey thoughts. ALLELUIA embodies the goodness and awesomeness of God. It is spoken in heaven by everyone in a reactionary response. The lips, body and soul speak it. Even though we have a hard time defining it, we've wanted to say it. It is a word that transcends all languages and cultures. Times have changed; John was a Hebrew; he wrote this in Greek. It is the same in both languages and is as we speak it. It is a Jewish word made from Hallellu (praise) and Jah (Yahweh or Jehovah). It is now the international word of praise; it has been through the ages and will be in ages to come.
We see it four times here when John got a glimpse of heaven. In verse 1 there was a great voice of many people in heaven. It was their first experience of heaven, their first time to see. Knowing they would be there forevermore the cry was made in praise to the Lord–ALLELUIA. The troubles and trials of today are tough; sometimes it may be hard to praise and be cheered up, but when we see heaven and our Lord for the first time WE WILL SAY ALLELUIA! Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power belong to the Lord. We should be glad we have been saved and we should say it everyday for we have something to thank God for.
The second time many people saw us. We need to get our ALLELUIA's in here while we can. The harlot–the world system–the anti-christ–will be ruined by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords when He comes one last time to put an end to Satan's rule on earth. Wickedness will not prevail, even if it seems so. We walk by faith not by sight. The devil has never had a chance. The worldwide, age-long, corrupt, and dominating Satanic influence is a doomed system. The cry was ALLELUIA when the multitude saw the fall of Satan and the world system. The days of this world are numbered; the devil's day are numbered. The day of a Christian are not numbered for we have eternal life. While God will judge the world once and for all, we will cry ALLELUIA.
The third time we see "ALLELUIA" is in verse 4. Our soul cried ALLELUIA at the time of its salvation. It was the only word our soul knew to exclaim it. ALLELUIA and PRAISE cover it all. We could never say enough words to make up for that one word.
The fourth time we see the word is in verses 6-9. It is the final time we see it in this chapter. The bride will have made herself ready for the groom. A wedding is a moment of joy. When the bride and groom embrace, they become one as husband and wife. That's how God wants us to think of Jesus and the marriage supper of the Lamb. As soon as we see Him, we too will cry out that same word, ALLELUIA. We will see the LORD GOD omnipotent and HE will reign. We will be arrayed in our wedding garment as God brings Jesus and us together. Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage. This is not a fairy tale, but as fairy tales go……and they all lived happily ever after!
