Remember while you're young…before the bad times come. Why did Solomon give this admonition? He said to remember NOW before we take for granted the things of God. God does all things and is all things. Whatever we need we have. In the ups & downs, the ins & outs He's there. When we need help and deliverance He's there. When we need to be guided when we face temptation He's there. When we need forgiving, He's there. We can't do all this, BUT GOD CAN! He can because HE IS THE CREATOR. He is the Creator because He is God. Our senses feel the reality of the Creator. We feel small when we consider the universe. God is the cause for everything. If not for God nothing would exist. We cannot grasp it. We are in the reality of our own world.
Why did Solomon say something so simplistic? Why would I preach it? Why remind us of our Creator? Because He is our Creator. He is the origin of it all. We owe our existence to God and being our Creator is an ongoing thing. Moment by moment He makes our life happen. He helps us to continually exist. God, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit created it all. Jesus was there and helped make it happen. Jesus is still creating in us; without it we'd fly apart.
When we die this body will be laid down, but the soul will exist in heaven or hell for eternity. The body will go back to the dust. Verse 7 says then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Job says the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. God severs the soul from the body and it will lie in the dust until the resurrection.
God holds us in his hands. Genesis 1:1 says in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The Jews understood the use of "God" in this verse. Moses wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost and used Elohim. This meant Father/Son/Holy Spirit–a triune God. The use of "God" refers to all three persons. He created it all in six days. He made it entirely from nothing. He created an order to all things, an order in which we and all creation follows. And it all makes sense.
The first day He created light. The second day He created the firmament and the atmosphere. The third day He separated the waters from dry land and the continents were formed. We see earth and seas; we see the vegetation come together. The fourth day He made the sun, moon, and stars. Some say the whole universe was golf ball sized and with a tremendous explosion, called the Big Bang Theory, the earth was created. The Bible says God created it all in an order. He had built the foundation and now continued to build on it. The fifth day He created the fish and the fowl, what swims and flies. He knew they would need water and light, air and dry land; the whole ecosystem was planned with a precise order; it was an intricate plan. Science will have to agree. The truth is that God used science to create it all. What He did and the order He did in makes sense. The sixth day He created animals. Then He took dust from the earth He had made and created a man. He then came down and nostril to nostril breathed into that man the very breath of life. He started with dust and made a skeleton and then organs; He made the nervous system. He put it all together with a plan and with His own hands made a living human being. At his first breath, man saw God. He named that man Adam which means "the man." Everything that man would need had already been made. Adam could exist in the world God had already created. We're here because God willed it so. We have a reason, a purpose. We have body, soul and spirit. We have life all because HE gave it.
God took a rib from the man. He worked on it while Adam slept and made a woman for him. He gave her to Adam. She was called Eve, the "mother of all living." Don't think you're a nobody. The world gets confusing; it gets too self-reliant; it believes we are responsible for our own life. GOD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT and WE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO OUR CREATOR. He could take that breath from us right now because He gave it.
Remember who's the boss. We are of the Lord's making.
Remember to look to Him and believe.
Remember to trust His plan.
Remember to see the order we're placed in.
Remember to call upon Him for our soul, our life, and our help. He will show us the way.
So, have we remembered He is our Creator? Do we need to see ourselves in His order? Do we need to acknowledge that fact anew?
