Galations 5: 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith
Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 13
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty
for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Many years ago this country broke away from England and signed the Declaration of Independence. Many of our ancestors gave their lives to give us our liberty.
Freedom of the soul is to be enjoyed and utilized. It does something that our American freedom cannot. It is good to be an American citizen; it is better to be a child of God. We have been called to it and unto it.
We earned neither our American nor our Christian freedom. Both were given to us by someone else. We breathed free air the minute we are born. A free country has been preserved for us; we were born as free human beings, but it was given to us by the hands of another. Our soul's freedom was given by the Lord's grace and the nail-scarred hands of Jesus. When we take that hand in belief we are saved. It brings a change of heart and soul. We are called into a wonderful liberty.
We are called unto liberty–the liberty of Americans and Christians. We have freedom to choose. It's what we choose that counts. That choice will then have a effect on our liberty. If we squander, pervert, and throw it away, it won't be there tomorrow. If we guard and take care of it, we'll have it to our dying day. Our use of it will determine the continued existence of it in the time to come.
As we celebrate our American freedom, we must also celebrate the Kingdom of God and the freedom He gave us. Thank God for America. Thank God for his love and grace. Thank God for liberty.
