Genesis 22: 7-8, 14 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day it shall be seen.
The Lord tested Abraham. He took his son, his only son, Isaac to sacrifice him to the Lord. As they walked together Isaac asked his father where the sacrifice was. Abraham simply said "God will provide the sacrifice." Hebrews 11:17-18 reads by faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promise offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said: That in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
We have a provider that supplies everything we need. He can make a way where there seems to be no way. This brings a peace that the world cannot give. Abraham took the wood, built an altar and laid Isaac upon it. The altar was a special place shown to Abraham by God. God will provide a special place for us as well. When we go to that place, God provides–we receive. There is a reason to go to the special place. It is there that the Lord stopped Abraham from sacrificing his son. What it boils down to is that we must believe God. There is no other place than the one God sends us to. This place was the place for provision. God will provide if we wait at the place.
God cares more for us than our finite minds can know. When the angel told Abraham to stop, he immediately saw a ram in the thicket. Animals like that don't get caught in thickets. God put him there. Abraham found out that obedience is better than sacrifice. Because of his obedience his son was spared. Earlier Abraham showed his faith when he told the men traveling with him that he and Isaac would return. By faith he walked believing in the reality of Christ–and He took him through. We need the same unity with God that Abraham had.
When you decide, He provides–and provides when there seems to be no way. Jesus is our only hope. If we build on Him we can, through Jesus, stand against the enemy. God provided salvation and said we could eat of the good of the land. If we obey, walk, and keep the statues of the Lord we'll see things happen. He is our hope in time of need.
The prodigal son asked for his part of the inheritance. The father gave it to him. He went into the world leaving his father behind. His friends went when the money went. He got so hungry that the slop of the swine looked good to him. Finally he came to himself. He said remembered that his father's servants had plenty. Our God has plenty. I'm glad for the time I came to myself and realized I was lost. I knew, just like the prodigal son, that I had to make a change. I had to go to the Father. When I decided God made the way.
Whatever your need, whatever your situation. God will provide.
