The Coming Stone

Daniel 2:33-35; 38-44 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and
the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the
summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place
was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great
mountain, and filled the whole earth. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of
the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand,

and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to
thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over
all the earth.
And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all
things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of
potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but
there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou
sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And
as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they
shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave
one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven
set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall
not be left to other people,
but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The most precise emphasis of the coming of Jesus was told 500 years before he would come. At this point in time King Nebuchadnezzar had the dream that was the whole synopsis of history. It was critical to civilization in his part of the world and ours today. It was critical to the same instructions Jesus gave the disciples—go to the whole world and preach the gospel. The revelation to John was an enlargement of the king's dream. God introduced to Jew and Gentile alike that the Stone was coming.

We are living in the time that the Stone will appear. The timing is flawless. Our Father knew when civilization would reach the toes of the image the king saw. When it does, the rapture of the saints is eminent. The coming will be judgment to the adversary will come when the statue is at its weakest point. The world order is ready to fall even now.

Babylon ruled from 605 BC to 539 BC. It became the world empire; the king knew how to win and work people, and he knew when to overtake by force. He brought some down from within; the other were without by his force. He ruled every nation. Ancient Babylon is modern day Iraq.

Chapters 2-7 of Daniel do not use the Jewish word Jehovah in reference to the Lord. He used the word "God" in a universal sense using statements such as God of heaven or the King of heaven. The Ancient Hebrew language was not uses; these chapters are in Aramaic. The king established this as the language of the world; all were forced to use it. It is the language Jesus spoke when he was on the earth. After the dream was interpreted by Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar commanded that a decree go out to the entire world that Daniel's God was the God of heaven. This went out in Aramaic, the universal language; all who heard it would know what it said. The message encouraged believers and showed the whole world that Daniel's God was the true God. The king didn't realize he was doing this. The people believed in God and not the king's image. The Stone came out of the mountain; He can't be stopped. Nebuchadnezzar would die but Daniel's God lives on.

The gold on the image was the Babylonian kingdom. It was strong and held together for many years through the reigns of Nebuchadnezzar, his son, and grandson. Belshazzar, the grandson, was the one who saw the handwriting on the wall and marked the end of this empire. The silver of the image represented materialism–great gain and wealth. You see this in the kingdoms Darius and Cyrus. The silver represented all these kingdoms with Persia being the dominant one. Persia is modern day Iran. Persia was powerful and dominated the world system and introduced mysticism and the likes of the New Age movement. One of the kings, Artaxerxes, also known as Ahasuerus, was married to Esther. Historian Herodotus wrote that King Xerxes tied the nations together with his system of couriers to deliver letters across the world. In effect this was the world's first post office. The slogan was "neither rain, sleet, snow or hail" would stop it or the global control he had.

The Greeks were fortified by Alexander the Great. Greece is the brass of the image. It was stronger in some way and weaker in others. It moved forward in civilization but was weak in morality. The Greeks focused on science. They worshiped so many gods that in effect they worshiped none. In reality the only gods they worshiped were themselves.

The iron of the image was the city on seven hills–Rome. The Romans, under Caesar Augustus, conquered the Greeks; they dominated until 400 AD with a long and lasting rule over the world. Rome was the two legs on the image. It was never completely unified yet it was very strong. The Romans were in rule but did not have complete control over the Jews. When Jesus was born, it was the height of the Roman empire. It looked to the Jews and the whole world that the Roman reign would never end; they believed there was no hope. However, their Messiah was born in a little town as a helpless child. Herod would not tolerate others. He ruled with a rod of iron, but still Jesus grew. He was crucified and buried in AD 33. Many tried to keep Jesus in the tomb but the Stone moved anyway. This was the beginning of victory for mankind. Jesus came as a child and with child-like love and meekness conquered the hearts of men.

Rome ruled for 500 years afterwards and it ended when the last apostle died. What was left after the fall of Rome were nations throughout the world. The Romans had reached far and near with their influence; it left strength and power in each nation . The five toes, part clay and part iron are represented as those nations who worked together. When the rule was down to the toes, the coming of the Lord, God of heaven, was eminent. Verse 44 says in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom. We are in the time of the toes.

In a sense Rome evolved and by its influence united all the nations. United, but divided. There is no supreme power anymore. The United Nations has taken power from all nations. We are west. There is the near east, the middle east, the far east, Asia and Africa. The world is interconnected through media, internet and like toes on a foot they work together. We see the immorality of the Greeks in the world today; we see the mysticism of the Persians. The selfishness, greed and that started all the way back with Nebuchadnezzar the King is prominent today. Thank God we are saved from that rule, for the Stone that came out of the mountain has brought it down in our hearts.

The world today is at the brink of the toes. Jesus could have taken all parts of the image down at one time, but it has all been of his timing. The Stone could have cut off any part of the image; it could have been smitten at the feet first. God allowed time and the events of each empire to run their course. Today the nations are fragmented. People think they are so smart that they do not need God. Their own truth is created. But remember we're the toes.

Mankind admits it is falling apart. There are troubles with the economy as well as the governments. There are no heroes anymore. The jails are full. Crime is prevalent. The news tells us of one problem after another. People are not happy; the future is uncertain. We are mixed with the clay of the image and cannot hold it together anymore. The statue is coming down and world order with it. We are witnesses and participants of it seeing the fulfillment of scripture.

We struggle constantly with the devil. He works one way then another. It's hard to keep your head above water sometimes. We still need each other and the Lord. Without Jesus we will come unglued just like the world is doing now. The Stone will cut without the help of man; it is all planned out. The Stone has no choice but to break the whole image. We must let the Stone be our foundation. Without the Stone we will crack and break ourselves.

The Antichrist can do nothing; he ends up showing the whole world the lies of the devil. There will be seven years for the world system to completely break and while that happens we'll be in the sky with the Stone. The God of heaven will always reign. With that we can say even so come quickly.

Don't believe the image that is promoted today. Rather look at the feet of the image. They are crumbling. Be thankful that when the image is down, we will be up!
