Where God Has Put You And Why

I Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who hath enabled me, for that which he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.

I am called as much as Paul was. This verse if very instructive to us for our place in God's plan. We need to be thankful we were born where we were here in our little corner of SW Virginia. Consider your part in this church, in the work of God. Don't think of yourself in the sense of being an officer. All have a place whether on the ballot or not. All of have been called to a purpose. When He stirred our hearts to bring us to Him, He had a plan. We are saved and have an identity; we are to be the children of light; we've been adopted into the family of God. We have a position in God–called for a purpose and to a purpose.

Why did the Lord save me? Why am I here at Adwolfe FWB Church? What am I doing throughout the week? What's the importance of it. Lay all that aside. God has chosen this place for you. Why has God chosen this for us? It is our talents and abilities? We all have them and they are unique to us, BUT let's have no false humility. That's not it. One main reason we are here if FAITHFULNESS. God counted me faithful.

Paul hit the nail on the head. We get it backwards; we say when I get an office, when I get something real to do, when I have a position, a title….then I'll be faithful. No. The reason we have it is because we are faithful! Faithful in much comes from being faithful in least–it's because of faithfulness and not to make us faithful. God has placed us and then we turn around and not be faithful. God has blessed us because we have been faithful and has given us this place because we are. We need to take God serious. This is not an exclusive club. Are you a Christian? Well, yes. I go to Adwolfe FWB Church. No. Only God gives the place to us. God must come first. We're all in it together. God has to be first for it to work. We must value the Lord above all. When we put Him first, then HE CAN USE US. We make His way our way. Let God have His way and it not be just a statement we make. We come to church because we are Christians. We serve Him because we are the sheep of His pasture. Getting serious when He gives us something to do won't cut it. It's not until we are faithful.

We must be consistent. Are we Christians more than every now and then? God sees that.He can put us where He wants us! I didn't ask the Lord to be a preacher. That's a hard job. If I hadn't do it, I'd be like Jonah–always on the run. I had no real choice. Are we to be a witness? We don't have a choice; it's our place. We might as well take up our cross and follow Jesus. He knew all of us could handle the job He's called us to do. We had to be faithful in those little things first–faithfulness in the big things comes afterwards. Some of you have proved to be faithful for over 50 years. You got here. God got you here.

Faithfulness is more than coming to church and more than not coming. You can come to church and not pay attention. Let's not let others keep us from being faithful. He expects us to keep it up. He is counting. The verse says God counted us faithful. I don't know what you are outside these doors. He keeps track of our days moment by moment. God marks, counts–here, not here, but not just for a service time. It's everyday we live; He monitors our faithfulness. Don't wait around to do what you should. Don't wait for the preacher to ask you to do it. You know what you should do.

How is your record adding up? How is mine? He has put us here, where He wants us to be. It's time to get faithful to Jesus, the church, the world. We'll answer for it. Yes. We've been saved by the blood, but we must be faithful. He is Lord and in charge. I don't tell Him what to do. He tells me. Maybe that's the reason our cups don't overflow and the well is dry…get back to Jesus. Accept and esteem the ministry. We are all in a ministry.

The religious circles separate clergy from laity. WE ARE ALL ON LEVEL GROUND. Remember the Sunday school lesson this morning. Not one of us is greater that the other. It's not Bob and you or you and Bob. We are one! It's not a matter of who we are. There is no preaching, no singers, no Sunday school without you, without me, without us. No individual is a nobody. I make you and you make me. Jesus counts us all. It's not for our own gain but for others who don't know Jesus. When we leave faithfulness, we leave God and our position in the kingdom. If we stop being faithful in our daily lives we have no business in a place in church. Jesus in the daily place will determine the place in the church.

It is a privilege to be part of this church. Never let God down. Look at where you are. Commit yourself again to the task and improve on your faithfulness. Remember we must be faithful first in the little things to ever be counted faithful in the greater things.
