The Prophet

Dueteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

The people of Israel thought that if Moses was gone the Lord would be gone also. As seen in the scripture above Moses told the people that the LORD would raise up a Prophet. We do need a Prophet— the one that came 2,000 years ago. He was revealed to the world. He would speak and the people were to listen, just as we should today. If not, the scripture says that God will require it at our hands. Moses would die; the Prophet lives forever.

The Jews were taught that the Messiah would be the Prophet of God. How we too need to hear from the Lord. We face so much in this world of confusion. Right is wrong and wrong is right. Satan reigns supremely, yet the world says it does not believe in a devil or sin anymore. We have everything one can have materialistically, but we are unhappier than ever. It is because we have forgotten about God. We have forgotten about the Prophet.

The world's greatest need is to hear from God. He speaks to us today, but influences of society have confused us. This time of year we are reminded there is a Prophet. God made a promise. God spoke. God is real. What we were taught in Sunday school and by our parents is real, and we know it. God is revealed and through the Prophet He saves us. Before we can be saved He must speak to us. We cannot get around that voice. We also cannot make God what we want. We cannot deny the voice, for God is real. You have not died. You don't know, so how can you say this is no heaven or hell. The Prophet crossed eternity from beyond, beyond heaven, beyond earth, beyond death. We sacrificed the Prophet of God.

If we trust and believe the Prophet He can save us. He formed the world; he can mold us. We need to hear from God and He speaks through the Prophet. We need him to speak to us. You can try anything and everything, but it will not save your soul. The Prophet called Jesus will tell you what to do. Remember the blind man healed by Jesus. He came to Jesus; He told the man what to do. The man listened and did what Jesus said, and he could see. He can tell us what to do. Other sources will not work. Follow Jesus and it will be all right.

Are you asking What has God done for me that I should listen? I say to you What has God not done for you? He has done more than we even realize. Shame on me. Shame on us for not looking at what He has done. A baby cried in a manger; he became a man. He spoke come unto me and I will give you rest–and He did; He said peace be still, and the waters were calmed; He said Lazarus come forth and he came out of the grave; He told the very devil to come out of men, and the devil had to obey. He sat and talked with little children on his knee. He was lowly but spoke with authority for He was the Prophet of God.

When John the Baptist came on the scene, the people asked him if he was Moses; he said no. They asked if he was Elijah; he said no. They then asked if he was that Prophet; again he said no. The Prophet did come and He speaks to us and through Him we know God. Peter preached and told the Jews that the Prophet had come, both Lord and Christ, and they crucified Him. He is our Redeemer, our friend, our future, our assurance, our peace, our reason to rejoice; we have a Prophet. Emmanuel. God is with us

What is He saying to you today? Are you listening? Do you want peace? He says come unto me. He says go and sin no more. He says come forth. He is asking you to respond to His voice. Listen to Him today.
